[The image on the video feed is a little shaky.  It depicts a woman in her mid-twenties sitting awkwardly--like she doesn't quite know how to arrange her limbs--on a chair in one of the dug-outs with a coarse brown blanket over her shoulders.  Her long, brown hair is loose on her shoulders; an untied ribbon hangs limply in the thick ponytail. [Oh, this sounds like a nice young man! Her voice is still tentative, though, because neither of those location names make any sense to her.] I ... I suppose I must be very far from home, then. Thank you for answering me, Jack.

Where you from, doc?

A city named Midgar. To be honest, something about the atmosphere here reminds me a little of that place. I can't say I've ever heard of any country called Canada, though.

Canada is the northern part of Northern America, on Earth.

[half to herself; she glances away from Sunny as she thinks, wringing part of the blanket in her free hand.] Earth? So--not quite Gaia then, it seems.

Thank you, Sunny--could I trouble you a little more?

I know 'Gaia' is another w-word for earth, from the a-ancient Greek, Gaea.

You're welcome. [She smiles.] Of course, I'm a-always glad to help.

[Lucrecia smiles wearily back, and seems at least a little cheered by Sunny's friendliness.] Greek? Hm, I guess I have even more to learn than I originally thought.

I don't suppose you know how or why this happened, do you? I mean--did it happen to you, as well?

Not mobile? Well...it's...disorienting, often, but- are you injured, or just out of sorts?

I'm Dr. Daedalus Yumeno. Welcome to the Siren's Port Newcomer Network...for whatever it's worth.

No injury, it's only that, well, I haven't walked anywhere for quite some time. [she bites her lip.] Decades, actually. I'm sure I'll be all right, I just need some time for my muscles to remember what to do.

Any welcome is worth a lot to me, especially given the circumstances. Thank you, Dr. Yumeno.

Immobile? For decades? That...may take some extensive therapy, but...well. If there's anything I can do to help accommodate you- I work at the medical center not far from the diamond.

[quietly.] I've been in stasis, you could say, for around thirty years. If you could help me, I'd certainly be grateful. Perhaps when the light comes and it's safe to move about.

Are you getting the answers you wanted, Dr. Crescent?

[she's twisting the blanket around in her fists as she looks forward. Her nerves are still frayed, but the discussions with Jack and Sunny have done a lot to help her regain some control. She smiles, though there's water under the warmth.] I think the only answer I would want is a way back. But I'm getting a little bit of what I need, which I guess is the important thing right now.

You're safe above all else right now, is that right?

[uncertainly.] I was told that I would be, so long as I didn't try to leave this little dugout.

I'm afraid this isn't a dream.

[He pauses, and then with a bit of concern:] Do you require assistance?

Reply

[voice] apologiste January 4 2011, 05:27:37 UTC
Yes ... There's no denying it at this point. I'm not sure whether to be relieved or not.

[she catches the worry in his tone, and it comforts her.] The man told me that I'd be fine if I simply stay put until the morning. Talking helps pass the time, though.

Understandably, this is certainly not an ideal situation.

The area is secure, there's no need to worry about that at least. But if you need medical assistance or an escort to your apartment...

[He realizes that it would be difficult to trust a stranger in these circumstances, especially when he hasn't even shown her his face or given a name. But if she needed help, he was able-bodied enough to do so.]

Apologies, I'm Minato. Haven't been here very long myself actually. I'm not a doctor by any means, but I've done enough exploring to learn where the hospital is at least.

I feel a bit better with the more I learn, but that man really did rush off before saying much. [she is a little taken aback by just how accommodating everyone outside of that Greeter has been, but she's certainly not in a position to question it, either!] A Dr. Yumeno offered to send me a wheelchair, but I might need some help in the morning. I wasn't exactly left a map.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Minato--I'm grateful for your assistance. It's good of you to consider me at all.
