Are you getting the answers you wanted, Dr. Crescent?

[she's twisting the blanket around in her fists as she looks forward. Her nerves are still frayed, but the discussions with Jack and Sunny have done a lot to help her regain some control. She smiles, though there's water under the warmth.] I think the only answer I would want is a way back. But I'm getting a little bit of what I need, which I guess is the important thing right now.

You're safe above all else right now, is that right?

[uncertainly.] I was told that I would be, so long as I didn't try to leave this little dugout.

Did the men you spoke to give you a key to an apartment?

[she squints at the table in front of her and nods.] He left it here before hurrying off. I suppose I'll have to make my way over there somehow.

Mr. Aizen! Have you been here long? I might trouble you with some questions, if that's all right. [she still only has a sketchy idea of what this darkness is and why it happens, and why it seems to attract monsters, or create monsters, or--her mind's working furiously to consider all the numerous, unconfirmed possibilities.]

Quite a while, my dear. Several months, at that - I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

Can you tell me a little more about the darkness? Does it produce monsters, or call them forth?

The Darkness is a product of the Core. Commonly, it's believed the corrupt monsters are the lingering souls of those who died when the Core malfunctioned, their fears and furies given physical form between sirens of an evening.

[that sounds interesting--and terrifying. When she responds, she seems to be speaking half to herself.] I see ... so the monsters are endemic to the city, then. Is it possible to examine this Core?

Perhaps, if you become affiliated with the right company. There are two currently fighting for possession of the Core, SERO and AGI.

Oh--I ... I received an e-mail a few minutes ago from SERO, inviting me to a conference. Do you know anything about them?
