What is a vampire?

[The man sat facing the video is dressed in deep red and black, his shirt unbuttoned about halfway to reveal an extremely pale swathe of chest. He is blonde, hair gelled back and smile liquid. Behind him is what appears to be a red curtain. My experience since arriving here is that every vampire is different. Many of you have ( Read more... )

[ by comparison, leo is dark-haired, dark-eyed-- save for the unusual golden lights that move and change in his gaze (old despite his apparent youth). he's leaning forward slightly, curious, an elbow on his chair and chin in his palm. ]

Is it common, then? For humans to want to be bitten by your people?

[Eric is still smiling, tilting his head slightly, examining the other man in the video quietly.]

It appeals to some, though I can't say it's common, no. I can at least say that I have not been wanting for voluntary contributions, since the Great Revelation.

'Great Revelation'? [ he could practically hear the capital letters in those two words. ] .. Given what you've said already.. a time in which humans became aware of your existence?

[ a pause, mouth quirking somewhat apologetically. ]

.. As a warning, I ask a lot of questions.

That's correct. It was decided that humans were ready for the truth, and with modern science came the development of artificial blood. It was possible to promote our right to exist, given those conditions.

You are quite welcome to ask whatever you like--as I am within my rights not to answer. [His smile doesn't falter, but it does turn up a notch in amusement.] I did expect an inquisition of one kind or another.

[Human but interested, expressed by his slightly raised eyebrow. A couple things pinged him there: bars and Scandinavia.]

Sweden, huh?

[Italics is modern Swedish.]

That's correct. Does that surprise you?

[He shrugs. It sounds like Skwisgaar, but fuck if he knows what it means when he talks or what this guy said just now.]

Not really. I mean, yer Swedish. Dat's cool. I got a dude in here who's one of yer neighbors, actually. [He considers this.] So uhh, in case you tried to insult me, just now...[Tilting his head back, Pickles yells at something behind him:]

Toki! Get in here!

[He walks in from behind Pickles and looks at the NV curiously.]

Whats you want, Pickle? [Then he waves at the NV with a smile like a derp but says nothing to whomever Pickles is talking to.]

A bar. Were you expecting something a little more sinister?

It's more like I feel like I'm witnessing a trend, although I would have a hard time summarizing it briefly.

Hardly surprising. On an island such as this, things are bound to begin to repeat themselves. Historically, too--isn't that how the saying goes?

[The bar doesn't catch her interest, but what does is something else... her voice is hush, low-- despite her looks, there is no innocence in her voice. It sounds more dead to the world.]

Vampires... are able to live that long?

It depends on the variety of vampire, but I am proof unliving that it is possible, at least for the vampires of our world.

A vampire must be, above all, adaptable to the world changing around him. Some of my contemporaries have gone mad, or else become so stuck in their ways that they appear rarely and keep mostly to themselves. It's an awful waste of eternal life.
