Aperture Science Relaxation and Detainment Vaults glad_2_see_u March 7 2011, 04:31:56 UTC
[There are several in a row. The glass, while tempered, is not particularly resistant to being smashed. It will likely shatter into large pieces.

The walls, however, are of reinforced steel, several inches thick and seem to be coated with a polymer that dampens communications ability. There are locations where communication to the outside is possible, but they are difficult to locate.]

Motoko had gone along with it when the drones had attempted to detain her. She'd been heading through the zone, looking for...

Well, if not Zaeed specifically, then anyone, really. So often the station was just a series of boring empty days punctuated only by the various bouts of infighting on the network. Things were actually happening again, which was as much a relief as anything could be, and it would take a great deal to keep her from arbitrarily shooting people. The hallucinations were persistent, but Motoko had been gracefully fending off false realities and brain-hacks since she was fourteen, and this was no different. What really bothered her were the little wisps of shadow that flickered in the corner of her eyes, but were never there when she looked at them directly ( ... )

The only thing you have managed to break...was that window. Haha. A joke. glad_2_see_u March 8 2011, 07:42:34 UTC
"Though we are capable of [ ACTION: JOKING ] in order to lighten an otherwise dismal testing environment, we have not told a [ VARIABLE: JOKE ] yet."

The voice was coming from the ceiling, though where exactly was a solid question. There didn't seem to be any speakers.

"Though brief, we hope your stay in the Aperture Science Relaxation and Detainment Vault was a pleasant one." The voice was feminine and fairly cheerful. "If you wwill note the object on your aaaaarm, an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device we may begin instructional procedures and then TESTING."

Variable: "Heart" not found standaloneshell March 8 2011, 21:03:40 UTC
The Major of course did not flinch. After a moment in which she made it silently obvious that she was simply humoring GLaDOS, she lifted the arm on which the 'Portal Device' had been affixed and tilted it, looking it over. It was probably fairly dangerous, and she considered blowing a few panels to get it off, but decided against it with a mental shrug.

Alright, she'll bite; without preamble Motoko aimed the weapon (was it a weapon?) at the far wall and pulled a trigger. Blue. Well, that was different.

[You step out of the elevator and through the Aperture Science Material Emancipation Field. This liberates all objects not found on you at the time of arrival. I hope you didn't like them, they are now floating in some alternate dimension.

Inside the chamber are many things, but they all look fairly innocuous. Above you are GLaDOS's cameras, just watching.

Waiting.

When the doors open, the test will begin.]

Testing Course. -- Arkady's a later subject, so assume this is... idk, later? chikkinz March 12 2011, 08:23:46 UTC
[Arkady doesn't step out of the elevator so much as stand in the doorway, eyeing the chamber in front of her. She is not fond of this idea, nope nope. But there's... nobody there. Just... stuff. Lots of random stuff.

She tries to teleport out, but finds that... she can't. Just plain can't. No explanation, just like there's no explanation for this room.

And all at once, Arkady's glaring, eyes and pretty much all of her glowing a bright purple, and everything not securely bolted down (and some things that are) is suddenly flying all the fuck over, bashing into walls and such like an impromptu hurricane.

But somehow, the room seems to be surviving thoroughly intact, and Arkady's fury dies down as she begins to feel much too ineffective for her liking.

Step 1: Escape. Failure. Step 2: Break everything. Also failure.

Step 3?

She peeeeeers at the camera, the only thing that appears to be moving.]

...Hello there?

"Hello, [TEST SUBJECT 4 ], and welcome to the Aperture Science Computer Aided Enrichment Center, Secondary Campus Testing Facility," a voice greeted from above.

As GLaDOS spoke, the walls in the room shifted. Apparently all of the plates were hooked to moving arms. As they shifted, the damage from the earlier outburst was replaced and the surface of the room was left immaculate. Can't fire a portal onto an uneven surface, after all, that would be madness. The cameras and turrets, however, had all been off-lined.

It was a setback, but not a particularly terrible one.

"The following [ TEST CHAMBER ] will challenge you to utilize the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device in order to progress."

Though the turrets were gone, there was a healthy amount of putrid looking, green water, crackling with the hum of electricity, and several of the wall plates had been replaced with heavy metal spikes. It did not appear to be a cheerful room.

Fishsticks? [It's been forever since she's had fishsticks.] Can today be tomorrow? I haven't had fishsticks since before, but I don't think I'll be here for that long.

[And she steps out of the elevator, realizing meanwhile:] I can't hear the screaming in here. [She means the Marker. But oh look, the walls are closing in.

Her eyes dart from wall to wall, then from the edge in front of her to the edge she's meant to reach, much too far to jump.]

No fair. I can't teleport here!

[But wait, there's this random contraption on her arm...

She waves it around a little, then pokes and prods at it. That usually seems to work with the bracelet things.] I don't know how to work these things, I haven't even seen any in a long long time.

[Oh my. How did you get back here.

Well it doesn't matter. This is off limits.

The exterior of the shifting white walls and professional veneer is a construction site littered with drones and spare parts. It's generally very creepy and void of all life. Near the farthest end of the course is GLaDOS, hooked into the system, but you probably don't know that.

You communications work out here, though, and your Portal Gun is no longer vice-gripping your arm.]
