Done with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The midnight release was, like, the worst-planned thing ever -- there were people crowding the lines even after announcements told them every 30 seconds to get out of the way until their number was called. And people were shouting spoilers ( Read more... )

I haven't read it yet (and thus am covering your post with my other hand) but the LA Times might have ruined the ending for me. They printed one of the scanned pictures from the epilogue that was posted on the internet last week, without spoiler warnings! -- and what I read may or may not be true, but I really hope not.

That's awful. There is a possibility that it may not be an actual spoiler, though, because people have said there were several different versions of the scans floating about, with conflicting information.

Slashdot spoiled me for one of the plot points in the title of one of its articles, but I should probably have known better than to read it in the first place. And the jerks in the umass_amherst community have been trolling for months. I spent a lot of the book dreading fake spoilers.

Hey, Harry managed to cast two of the three Unforgivable Curses! Turns out, more forgivable than we thought.

Oh, right. I think Jen's scrawled comment in the margin at that point was "So how is he different from Voldemort?"

And all the good guys were doing it too, which was kinda weird.

Yeah. Not my favorite book.

Harry managed to set the wards when Hermione was disturbed. I'm not particularly thrilled with how Hermione was handled in this last book, though.

Nice write up. LOL @ lollipops!!!

I LOVED the BITCH line, but then I curse a helluva lot. And it was just great coming from Molly. But I too was a bit taken aback - not sure if it's appropriate, though I wouldn't have a problem with my own children reading it.

The epiloqgue was good but yes, very het, and nothing about many of the other characters. I presume that Victoire is Bill and Fleur's daughter?

I hadn't thought about that part with the spells, but you're right. But he had really good reflexes and fast thinking and cleverness to make up for his lack of complex spells. And he had force behind his magic.
