I seem to have quite a few women or girls (and the odd gay guy) friend me totally at random. The strange thing to me is that it is mostly women. The percentage of female to male on my flist is something like 90/10. Not that I mind, or anything, it's just odd. I've always had more female friends than male and I've never been able to figure out why ( Read more... )

I love cryptic comments, they give me the opportunity to ask for explanations!

Oh, yes, I know FurAffinity.

I thought the name Klytus was familiar, but I haven't learned Flash Gordon off by heart (unlike some movies), so I didn't recognise it. Now if you'd said

I don't think there are that many men on LJ it's probably a high ratio of female to males here

You mean... the core of the Earth isn't several tens or hundreds of times hotter than the surface of the sun as Al Gore says?

Dang! Maybe Geothermal isn't viable either!

Heh. Geothermal energy is a proven technology as long as you don't mind drilling a hole into the top of an active volcano! Pour cold water down the hole and it comes back out as superheated steam. Hotter than the surface of the sun? I doubt it. Hotter than the centre of a nuclear reactor, possibly. After all, the core of the earth is kept hot by the nuclear reactions going on in there. Once all the transuranics decay to stable elements, the earth will cool down and geothermal will then no longer be viable. But at least our descendants won't have to worry about volcanos, earth quakes, tsunamis, etc...

Why more females than males? It's your cute username, Simon. Got to be it, right! Not quite as cute as "Iain" the cat, but near enough.
(I'm always getting friended by Russians. I think they're Bots.)

I wondered about the debtors prison routine as well. Lots of it going on in the New Testament.
Perhaps there was a way for them to earn money while in prison back then as well.

I've always suspected (as an Englishwoman living in Australia) that Glabal warming was a plot dreamed up by Kevin Rudd to frighten the 18 year old first time votors into electing him as Prime Minister.

He used the standard formula.
a)Tell the voters there is a huge problem.
b)Blame it on the opposition.
c)Tell the voters you and you alone have the solution.

So SuperKev dons his magical cape and is going to save the world.

So now we are being hit with enormous hikes in gas and electricity costs, and we're all going blind having to buy those hideous light globes that take forever to reach full brightness.

We've recently had our coldest September on record.

Yes, Russians that friend you are bots. There's a way to stop it though... when you get friended by a Russian, hover your mouse over the little man icon to the left of their username. This brings up a context menu. In there is a link "Report a bot". Click on that, follow the instructions and i a few days (depending on how busy the support team is) the account will be deleted. I suspect that the bots themselves (or at least, the people writing them) are smart enough to realise which users constantly report them. Either that or LJ has cured the problem, because I haven't had one in weeks ( ... )
