Well, I passed my blue belt test. Which, as I told Sensei, is a funny thing - when I started, I thought blue belts knew stuff. Now that I am one, I realize they don't know anything. Continuing to prep for my 4th kyu (first blue) test, which unless I flee the state or chew off my own foot, will occur a week from today. I am staggering out of class absolutely dripping sweat, and convinced I will find new ways to fail that have never been managed before. Gotta keep pushing, though.

Part of my delight in reading the story about perhaps finding Richard III's body under a carpark is the great glee is it causing much of my flist.

Went to the annual dojo picnic yesterday, and once again I got to tear around on an ATV, shoot at clay pigeons with a 12 gauge (my stats were not, shall we say, very good, but I pulverized a couple of them), and hang out with fun people. Back to work tomorrow. It's so hard to end a vacation and return to the routine. I'm full of nerves. But I'm glad we had the two weeks of fun.

Note to self: when you've previously had chocolate cake overflow it's pans and all over the oven, clean that shit up before trying to cook anything in the oven again. Billowing clouds of smoke plus bits of charred batter on fire in the oven are no fun at all.

My birthday is tomorrow - looks like my gift from my mom is going to be a new tire. On Friday Bemo was dropping me off and a giant group of high school boys was trooping across campus and knocked over a normally-secured metal pylon.
