Went to the annual dojo picnic yesterday, and once again I got to tear around on an ATV, shoot at clay pigeons with a 12 gauge (my stats were not, shall we say, very good, but I pulverized a couple of them), and hang out with fun people. There was a very cute baby that was more than happy to be passed around to various people for cuddling, great ( Read more... )

Sounds like my fantasy, too. Too, too many years living in a city in a row. What I miss most is being in a place where I can feel the seasons turn, and can smell it in the air. NYC is not the place for that. I can't wait to get out.

Yeah, I can see that NYC isn't the place where you can smell snow, or a storm coming, or that woodsmoke smell of autumn.

Are you guys thinking of eventually leaving the city?

I am. Don't know about Mike! I am trying to get us into Long Island or Hudson River Valley. Ideally Sleepy Hollow!

I don't think it's a strange fantasy at all. I just got back from PA and realized I really miss farms and large, green empty acres (although those are becoming more and more scarce). I love Boston, but even the suburbs are congested and built up.
