I know very few people on my flist will be interested in these, but I'm hoping to pick off one or two of you. ;-) A bunch of these would work pretty well to read as original fic too, just sayin'. (There's a lot of porn in here ( Read more... )

LOL! They are people who have eaten my life. I am not only reading fic now -- I'm watching hockey. The first thing I do in the morning isn't load my flist -- it's read my favorite sports sites. What has happened to me? /o\

I don't know! I'm not new to sports or anything -- used to be a massive figure skating fan, I heart Rafa Nadal (tennis), I enjoy gymnastics and the Olympics, etc. But I've never been quite this fannish about it. Funny how certain things just hit that fannish funny bone.

Eh, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins. I've still a hockey magazine at home to read through.

It's fun though, even though I was really sad that the German hockey team isnt't going to Olympia this year. Two months back I wouldn't have cared. But well, what can you do?

My home town has a hockey team (even though they are regional league) and I'm living near the arena, so I'm planning to go watch a game. And it's about an hour to Düsseldorf (they have an DEL team), so...

That's great that you have live hockey you can watch as well. May as well take the addiction whole hog.

I love hockey... and I love porn... but porn about hockey players: My eyes, my eyes! They burn!

(Though possibly not as badly as my eyes burned last night, watching my Habs put on a pitiful display in a 6-0 loss... to the Laffs, of all teams. Brutal!)

Meanwhile I didn't care a bit about hockey till I started reading the porn, and now I am streaming every single Blackhawks game. It's been a pleasure so far, but I'm sure there's heartbreak to come at some point!

Sorry about your Habs, ouch. Get 'em next game. :) I only know a few players on that team, just because there's fic about them: Subban and Price. :-P I also know there was some controversy over Subban's contract -- did you think it turned out fairly? I didn't really know enough about it to have an opinion.

I'm still LOLing at the notion that there's this whole other fanbase out there who's gotten into hockey via slash fiction. If only they knew...

Subban's contract negotiations dragged on too long, but in the end I think ended up with the best possible situation for management, and probably a contract that's better for Subban even if he won't see it like that. These long-term contracts are killing hockey; a 2-year deal gives Subban a chance to prove himself and step up his game. The kid's got talent but an oversized ego so he needs to put up the stats to support a big contract.

Blackhawks are playing well. I have Corey Crawford in my hockey pool this year, and he's putting up great numbers. I still think it'll be an eastern conference team who wins the Cup this year; the compressed schedule favours the eastern teams since they have a lot less travel. I'd like to believe that this is the year for my Habs, but I've been living with disappointment since '93, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I know! I cringe at the thought. (There was actually a big kerfuffle a few weeks back when Tyler Seguin somehow was exposed to some fannish shipper post via Twitter. Either he or one of his friends found it, I can't recall, but it caused a collective heart attack, LOL.)

Thanks for filling me in on Subban. He seems like a fun guy based on various videos I've seen, but I've never actually seen him play, so. Hoping for the best for him.

It's striking how much of a disparity there is! Seems unfair, but I guess there's only so much you can do with the combination of population and geography....

You know, I have not found this fandom to be particularly kinky. I mean, there's some D/S stuff, and more hooker AU's than you can shake a stick at, but in general I'd say other fandoms are much kinkier. One author over on AO3 has been doing a pretty darn hot cross-dressing series featuring different pairings (each section stands alone): http://archiveofourown.org/series/31857

Hmm. I can't think of any crazy fandom classics. The biggest fic in the fandom (my gateway drug!) does have a dubcon scene, and then turns into an epic "first publicly out player" story. It's here in its original RPF form (locked at AO3) or here (unlocked) with names changed to be original characters. Apparently the original fic with real hockey player names was linked from a bunch of non-fannish places such as Goodreads, which the author wasn't crazy about, so she essentially turned it into an original fic and locked the one with the actual player names ( ... )

It's meat and potatoes sex which makes sense considering the featured players. I like hooker fic and don't read enough of it. Thanks for the cross-dressing link one for the gateway drug one.

I was sick as a dog on Valentine's Day. In bed for 4 1/2 days with the most vicious stomach virus I've ever had. It was epic.

God, there's a hockey hooker fic WiP that is being updated at the speed of molasses but is absolutely stupendous. If I could have one WiP finished on this planet, that would probably be the one. *grabby hands*

Not to my knowledge, although there was a big fannish kerfuffle when someone (not a fan, a friend of the player's) tweeted a shipping primer to one of the players mentioned in the primer. (It was one of those big long LJ posts with all sorts of photo/video evidence about why these two are TOTALLY DATING, or at least should be.) The player never tweeted back, so who knows what his reaction was? The fan who made the post was pretty amused and sanguine about having her post being thrown in the player's face, but the rest of fandom pretty much had a collective cow over the demolishing of the fourth wall. Lots of fics started being locked over at AO3.
