Big post of hockey recs

I know very few people on my flist will be interested in these, but I'm hoping to pick off one or two of you. ;-) A bunch of these would work pretty well to read as original fic too, just sayin'. (There's a lot of porn in here ( Read more... )

recs: hockey rpf fic, richards/ofc, carter/omc, brown/seguin, gen, briere/giroux, crosby/malkin, spanking, kane/toews

You know, I have not found this fandom to be particularly kinky. I mean, there's some D/S stuff, and more hooker AU's than you can shake a stick at, but in general I'd say other fandoms are much kinkier. One author over on AO3 has been doing a pretty darn hot cross-dressing series featuring different pairings (each section stands alone): http://archiveofourown.org/series/31857

Hmm. I can't think of any crazy fandom classics. The biggest fic in the fandom (my gateway drug!) does have a dubcon scene, and then turns into an epic "first publicly out player" story. It's here in its original RPF form (locked at AO3) or here (unlocked) with names changed to be original characters. Apparently the original fic with real hockey player names was linked from a bunch of non-fannish places such as Goodreads, which the author wasn't crazy about, so she essentially turned it into an original fic and locked the one with the actual player names.

Happy belated V-Day to you! Did you do anything fun? I went to Zumba class. :-P

It's meat and potatoes sex which makes sense considering the featured players. I like hooker fic and don't read enough of it. Thanks for the cross-dressing link one for the gateway drug one.

Have any of the players voiced an opinion of the fic?

I was sick as a dog on Valentine's Day. In bed for 4 1/2 days with the most vicious stomach virus I've ever had. It was epic.

God, there's a hockey hooker fic WiP that is being updated at the speed of molasses but is absolutely stupendous. If I could have one WiP finished on this planet, that would probably be the one. *grabby hands*

Not to my knowledge, although there was a big fannish kerfuffle when someone (not a fan, a friend of the player's) tweeted a shipping primer to one of the players mentioned in the primer. (It was one of those big long LJ posts with all sorts of photo/video evidence about why these two are TOTALLY DATING, or at least should be.) The player never tweeted back, so who knows what his reaction was? The fan who made the post was pretty amused and sanguine about having her post being thrown in the player's face, but the rest of fandom pretty much had a collective cow over the demolishing of the fourth wall. Lots of fics started being locked over at AO3.

Oh, nooooo. Aren't stomach viruses supposed to be 24-hour bugs? That sucks.

Link me to the stupendous hooker fic.

Demolishing of the fourth wall - never a good thing. I cringe over this.

Oh how I wish! My symptoms started Sunday night at about 10 pm - headache and achy muscles. I had to shut off TV and go to bed where I did not sleep because the muscle aches and chills became awful. So cold in three layers of fleece, a down comforter, the heat cranked up and a heating pad for my feet. I lay in bed shaking from the cold, nauseous and achy. Day 2: diarrhea joined the party and stayed through Wednesday mid-day or so. Monday and Tuesday night were no sleep due to the constant (at one time every 60 seconds - I counted!) back and forth to the bathroom. I started googling deyhdration and possible hospital because I couldn't keep anything down. I was throwing water back up. Wednesday afternoon it finally abated. Thursday, I was in bed weak as a kitten, recovering from what felt like being hit by two double deckers. Friday, I ventured forth in the world but was tired and somewhat feverish. Did you know you can't OD on Immodium? The only side effect is constipation! I ended up taking eleven, yes eleven Immodium on Tuesday night and at 5 am, I was able to sleep three uninterrupted hours before being woken up at 8 am by my constant companion, diarrhea. Eleven immodium spread out over six hours gave me three hours of respite. It was a nasty, nasty virus. I hope you never get it.

Hooker fic is here. Obligatory disclaimer -- I'm not sure how well it will hold up if you don't know the players in question. I just love how funny it is, and the way the relationship kinda sneaks up on both the characters. As a visual aid for hooker!Tazer, you may want to check out this recent photo shoot -- the first pic with the leather jacket. (This photo shoot, incidentally, has set fandom a-flurry over the past few days.)

Ahhhh, Norovirus! I have heard of that one -- sounds just awful. Eleven Imodium must set some kind of record. D-:

Tazer is so innocent looking even in his leather jacket. Thanks for the link. I will let you know when I read it.

Haha, there were a lot of comparisons to Tiger Beat when those pics were posted!

Do they still publish Tiger Beat? It's been decades, then.

They do! Kind of surprising that it's still going given the state of print media these days, but there you go.

It's actually kinda nice even though I never read it when I was young to know it's still around especially as print media like you said. Maybe not all the old ways have gone.

Newspapers shutter, bookstores close, but Tiger Beat lives on...
