The sun had set quicker than Negi had anticipated. He was currently sitting inside the Argo Tea, just around the corner from the Oriental Theater and Seattle's Best Coffee. When it came to a choice between coffee and a place with 'tea' in the title, Negi had decided to risk the tea. It wasn't as good as tea he could get in England or even Japan, but at least it was tea.

He politely thanked the girl behind the counter who had given him a cup free of charge (he still wasn't sure about all of this 'free of charge' business) and headed out the door. The tea was in a to-go cup so that he could enjoy it as he walked. He sipped at the warm brew as he turned the corner and noticed the people milling around the theater.

"Wonder what's going on," he asked aloud.

Molly had been wandering the streets after spending a few hours previous bent over books in Borders. It had been tough trying to recall all the books she had been researching before this but she needed to stay up to date somehow. While she would have loved to spend more time there, her leg was starting to stiffen up and a walk had definitely been needed.

She blinked when she spotted the crowd at the theater, briefly wondering if there was a event going on that she didn't hear about. "Dunno." She absently answered the question spoken nearby. "I didn't hear about anything happening recently."

As if on cue, a uniformed usher comes out the door, hitting a set of chimes. At the signal, most of the gathered crowd begins milling back inside the theatre. From across the road, however, something stirs.

"Psst! Hey!"

Kitty spotted Negi from down the street, and picked up her pace to close the distance between them. "Hi," she offered to him, then to Molly, she nodded and pointed to herself. "I'm Kitty. Got here when he did." She looked around, frowning a bit. Something was going on, that much was obvious.

John walked with his hands in his pockets. It hadn't taken him long to get to that area of the city, John had been pretty regularly looking over maps and trying to figure out where things were. He couldn't do that in the Nightside so it seemed like it'd come in handy if he had the map of this place memorized. Also, he was in the area which helped things a bit.

It was while he was approaching the hotel that he realized he had a problem. He hadn't gotten the man's name. Brilliant detective. He sighed and called out instead, "Hey? Is the guy who was lost around here? I thought I told you to wait!"

A tall young man peered from around the corner of the building, blond hair slicked back in a style that went out in the mid-1950s. His clothing still reflected which era he had been pulled from before getting dumped in front of the American Girl Place days ago.

He stuffed his hands in his pockets and began heading towards the man.

John wasn't bothered by the out of date hair style. For one who was a man in a white trench coat to criticize and two he saw enough time displaced people back in the Nightside. He was quick to notice the other man approaching and nodded, "Sorry, forgot to get a name. Glad to see you stayed in one place though...makes things easier."

Walking around after dark in a strange city that just got stranger as the days went on was probably not the greatest idea. Tempting fate tended to be 1) dumb, 2) really dumb around here, and 3) the Critic's area of expertise. Linkara had an excuse, though: it hadn't been dark when he'd started walking around, trying to get a feel for this new, emptier Chicago. It was a lousy excuse, but hey, it was what he had.

He'd wound up near some sort of theater, watching people head inside as some sort of chimes sounded. "Huh," he commented to nobody in particular, "You wouldn't think they'd still be having shows with the city like this." One nonpartisan shrug later, he'd turned to head back to the hotel.

Franky, conversely, had never been one to hold back when fate dangled anything ominous in his face. Not necessarily because he liked taking risks, and not even because he was a bit contrary when it came to what he should or shouldn't do, but mostly just because if he felt like doing something, he'd do it and the consequences be damned. No one had told him about the monsters or anything, either, but he really wouldn't have cared if they had; he was, after all, part of a crew including a skeleton, a talking deer, and a guy with moss for hair.

He'd been exploring the city, eventually lured, as people are wont to do, toward the glow of light in midst of the darkness. Franky wandered near to see what the fuss was about, and caught sight of that one guy from the bean wandering back nearby. "Oi, Hat-bro. You hittin' up the theater or somethin'?"

Turning around to find a pantsless cyborg in front of you could be a bit unnerving, to say the least. The fact that Linkara took it in stride was both a testament that his life had gotten weird lately - weird enough to make the cyborg's presence fall on the "relatively normal" end of the scale - and a result of the fact that he'd met the guy before.

"Hey, Franky." He moved pretty quietly for a big guy. "Not really. Just wondering how they managed to get enough people to put on a show, never mind get an audience." He glanced back at the theater - looked like everyone had gone inside - and turned back to the cyborg. "So, seen any 'evil faeries' or anything lately?" Yes, that sentence came complete with finger quotes. Just because they'd been warned about the fae population of the city didn't mean Linkara was buying it.

It was probably not surprising to anyone who knew what he was that Thomas would be on the streets of Chicago after dark. After all, prowling at night looking for some hapless doe to feed on was exactly what vampires did. Never mind that the previous night's debauchery had been wholly useless, and left him with little more than guilt and bad dreams, without even the satiation of the Hunger to take his mind off things. So he walked around the city, alternately trying to convince himself he was fine and thinking of going down to Zero ( ... )

Chauvelin had spent the week or so since his arrival exploring the strange and massive city. Because he was still leery of the mechanized carriages that seemed to have the run of the roads, all of his adventuring had been on foot.

He passed the theatre just as the streetlights clicked on, one by one, adding to the glow given off by the neon marquee. Chauvelin stopped, just before the crowd thickened near the front doors, and stared up at the humming, buzzing lights. They were... interesting, he supposed. People rustled around him, but he was distracted for the moment.

The itching, tingling feeling of being too close to someone made Chauvelin turn from the marquee and glance over. In the overly-bright lights, everyone's skin took on a strange pallor, so the man's waxy, too-tight skin didn't set off warning bells immediately. It could have been argued that a person who had seen so many dead bodies in his life would have been more keen to the stranger's appearance, but alas, Chauvelin was not on his A-game.

He raised an eyebrow, then glanced down at the man's satchel. A servant?

"Are you lost?"

She was bored, mostly, and she figured a good look over the city couldn't be too bad. She hadn't figured out much more than she had learned those first couple of days she was here, but it was looking like she had all the time in the world to figure it out... unfortunately. She'd kind of like to get back to the castle sometime. Not that she missed the prince or Flonne or anything like that, but it felt just a little weird not hearing the complaining or the love-talk or the sounds of prinnies shuffling about and being lazy. She'd at least had the last part and her anger at the prince to keep her occupied when she was in Veldime ( ... )

J had made a point of being a bit more careful around here - the whole wolf belt thing had shaken him more than he liked to admit, and he figured the best he could do until he figured out what exactly was going on was to stay aware and avoid getting taken by surprise - or making stupid mistakes - again. He'd heard the crowd in the theater - nothing like show business, even if it was a bit out of place with the city like this - checked it out, and left, heading back to the hotel.

Of course, that plan of action would have worked a whole lot better if his timing hadn't been off. The sun had set before he was halfway back to the hotel, putting him a bit more on edge than usual. In a city like this, the last thing he wanted to be was alone in the dark.

Well, at least the "alone" thing wasn't going to happen. He caught the faint strains of a tune up ahead of him, finding it to belong to a girl who sounded a lot older than she looked when he caught up to her...and had wings and a tail to boot. Um. Time to be cautious ( ... )

Why she found herself in these situations, Ziva really didn't know. Although she knew better to be out after dark in a city like this, with incidents going on as they had been, there she was, wandering the streets. She probably shouldn't be alone either, but, that was that, she'd be just fine, she couldn't be that far from the hotel anyway.

But, just in case, she had one of her smaller knives hidden in her hand, in case she was attacked by anyone on the streets. It was good to be prepared, since she didn't know what was going to be around the next corner...

...like the girl with wings and a tail, and the guy who looked like he had a tornado for hair...

Etna perked up when she heard someone speak up, and turned around to face the speaker, who officially had one of the oddest hairstyles she had ever seen--which was saying something. Was that a natural thing or did he actually spend who-knew-how-many hours every morning making his hair look like that?

The tiniest of smiles appeared on her face at his words, a look of amusement more than anything else. "Really?" she asked, half-heartedly attempting to look the picture of innocence. A difficult feat for any demon, even if she had been trying. "I'm pretty sure anything out here has more to worry about than I do." For Etna, it was a fact, plain and simple, though a little bit of pride managed to show through.

"Oh, and the other person here can go ahead and come out too."
