Blondes have more fun, they say

Found an interesting article about why guys like blondes (also The Blonde Wars), which also talks about skin colour in relation to blonde hair:
The reason women were traditionally called "the fair sex" is because, all else being equal, they really are fairer. "Although about only a tenth of the difference separating blacks from whites, there does ( Read more... )

I read once that blonde and red hair were successful mutations. I think that is hilarious. But numbers wise that is true.

that theory about women wanting to see actresses that look like ourselvesI go back and forth about this. I think sometimes people like to see something different then themselves. My sister who has a very dark complexion, and beautiful, went to Mexico. She was completely ignored while on the beach but her husband who was blonde, had women hitting on him every day. When I was younger I thought blonde men were more attractive, mostly because they seemed less threatening. Now, not as much ( ... )

I like Flaubert's take on it in the Dictionnaire des idées reçues :

Blondes : Hotter than Brunes (see Brunettes)

Brunettes : Hotter than Blondes (see Blondes)

I find dark haired woman hell of sexy (though Tara ? She's blonde, really !) then again I can like a Blonde look but I'm more picky about it. I share your opinion of a great many of the women you linked the pictures of, so there for Brunettes ^^

Personally, I've always been more attracted to dark-haired women. I think it's an opposite attraction kind of thing. I'm natural pale and darker skin and hair looks great to me.

I think the original appeal of blond hair was that it was rare. Hollywood way over-sold it as being the most attractive color in the 50s and 60s. By the 80s it seemed like such a ridiculous percentage of high school and college-age girls were dying or bleaching their hair blond, that it lost a lot of eye-catching appeal it once had. I think it's better now that women seem to be experimenting with many more colors than just the blond shades. It works out better for everyone including those wanting to experiment with blond.

Brunettes and darker ethnicities always catch my eye more than blondes or fair skin. The closest look to my "type" is probably something like a Latina. I personally find them more "complex" looking, but that's probably a learned preference/perception.
