I went on a date tonight. It went well, I think.

Working for three professors, serving ice cream at Dip 'n Dots, translating a medical manual from English into German for a small firm up in Berrien Springs, taking Advanced Greek Grammar and Syntax. Just wanted to let people know why I've not been particularly visible recently, online or off.

So I'm thinking of starting to date. Given that everyone who reads this has more relationship experience than me...advice, anyone?

Tried reading the first book, just...couldn't. Which has never happened to me before with a "popular" book - I enjoyed the Harry Potter books, and I could have finished Eragon, if I'd really wanted to. But Twilight was simply painful. What precisely is the appeal here?

I was reading back thought the Odyssey and came across this description in Book XI:

"...where Cimmerian people have their homes - their realm and city shrouded in mist and cloud."

And realized I'd never made the obvious connection to Robert E. Howard before. I must have read that verse a dozen times.

Greek classes are finished with - my final exam is next Wednesday evening. It's been a good class - a peculiar class, in some ways. The other students were all MDivs, working their way through Greek because it was a program requirement, and from asking around I've gotten the impression that I won't see very many familiar faces in my spring ( Read more... )

On the positive side, got to see not only Evelyn but Katie and Packy too. On the negative side, got home to learn that Sophie got hit by a car on 12. Damn.
