Good on ya' for keeping up with the Tulsa Greens, and you MUST be getting well known if you can get bitched out by a former VP candidate. (I know it was still relatively icky, but from here it sounds cool.)

iBooks are down to $999 new, $700 refurbished, $50 if you're willing to join the hordes descending on Richmond on August 9th
(But I'm biased as hell, if I needed a new laptop it's what I would get.)
If you get another Compaq I will chide you most fiercely, and I'll be disappointed if you fall for HP (which is the same uber-company as Compaq).
The Dell line is pretty reliable and their support is good once you've gotten a human on the line, and a decent Inspiron 6000 comes with wireless built in for under $700. Most Gateway M models will run the same amount and include wireless as well.
I've never trusted Toshiba, never will, but if you have the cash for a tablet PC/notebook then they're your best bet.

Either way, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $250 to get the 3-year warranty and extra support, especially on a laptop.

no, the midwest is still painfully humid, even by east coast standards. where it's "dry" is colorado, arizona, nevada, etc. there's where it's mostly just "hot" without the side of "disgustingly so."

Must be how they drive in Illinois! I must admit, driving with Jen was...entertaining. Kind of like bumper cars... *duck* Kidding!

And yes, I'm going to try to be there - not sure yet if I'm going to be arrested.

And who knew that I could become so popular just by calling the roll?

Apple just reved the iBooks, which now come with 512MB base memory. Less than a kilobuck,
fast, cute, and friendly.
