One slice of what happened in Tulsa, without so much politics in it, please...

  • Tulsa is bloody hot, and let no one think that because it's "a dry heat" as they say everywhere that isn't the East Coast that that's excusable. We ended up trotting around between buildings on TU's campus an awful lot, and the heat would just sort of rain down on you as if someone was pouring hot asphalt on your head. (Interestingly, the heat in DC and Maryland tends to come at you, not down on top of your head. Not sure why this is, but it's like walking into custard.)

  • Of course, extreme heat does have its bennies, in that women wear very little clothing.

  • Incidentally, I've unfortunately got MSNBC playing next to my head, and...does Kim Jong-Il look like a muppet, or am I crazy?

  • Back to Tulsa: having veggie food that's been grown on the farm that you are eating it on, and that's been prepared by a professional chef who lives on that farm, is one of the greater pleasures I've experienced in quite a while.

  • As was the great conversation afterwards with some very interesting Greens.

  • Being bitched out by a former Vice-Presidential candidate, on the other hand, is not all it's cracked up to be. But that's okay - it's not like he was our VP candidate. (Okay, so some politics.)

  • In Tulsa, traffic laws are apparently somewhat vague suggestions, rather like the Pirates' Code in Pirates of the Caribbean, and they tend to drive as if they are preparing for similar conflicts. It's worse than Boston, and almost - but not quite - as bad as driving in northern Virginia.

  • mollisol and lidora, in addition to being good Greens (and potentially injurious to other Illinois Greens' cars - see above), are cute. No, I mean really cute. Cute-as-the-proverbial-buttons cute. As in, one more and they'd be the Powerpuff Girls kind of cute. They are that cute, knowhutahmean?

  • kakistocracy is one of those guys that has his shit squared away. I knew that a good point would be made when he stepped up to the mic. He is, however, not as cute as mollisol and lidora.

  • I'll point out again that aramintamd is indeed very, very wise.

  • Thing I never expected to do in Tulsa: dumpster diving. Less said about this, the better.

Anyway, more later. In the meantime, anybody know any really, really good deals on laptops?
