Self-indulgent moaning post. You may wish to avoid.

I hate my own stupid high standards. I just got my law assignment result and it wasn't a first. It was three marks off so all is not lost but I know I'll be so disappointed with myself if I don't have a good base (eg a first grade!) for next year. I also think it would be fairly crap going to get a lower aggregate mark than last year (75), what ( Read more... )

Thank you! I knew having a bit of a moan on LJ to my friends would make me feel better, I am starting to perk up a bit now.

I have been a hermit due to uni work. I will be working completely flat out until next Friday - no wonder I'm fed-up! - but after that I'm done for the summer and I intend to make up for having been so anti-social recently. I would love to come over for tea one night, week after next? I can't do Wednesday but any other evening should be fine.

What you need m'dear is a drinkie with me and Liv. Probably be in the Nelson in about an hour when I've finished work. Go on. We're not staying long, but the weather is too nice and it's Friday. And we have to CELEBRATE your mark, and remotivate you.

Well, if you say you'll remotivate me it would actually be in the interests of my studies to come, wouldn't it? I could probably manage a quick diet coke ;) BTW I can't sign in on MSN or I would, technology is not being my friend. x

Of course it would! :P Ahhh, righty, no problemo. Just good to know you're still alive and with us! See you in about an hour. Will ring you when I've picked up Liv if you want? x

It's still a good mark een if it's not a first, you shouldn't worry about it so much:)
Hopefully will see you out and about soon :)

Stop viewing things that aren't perfect as some sort of failure. Look at it as something to build on.

I'm also going to second Carter on the beautiful, intelligent and capable front :)

Good point and thanks. I feel a bit silly about making this post now; last night my Mum rang me to tell me a family friend had died unexpectedly. She was only 51, a year older then my Mum. She was a really nice lady but as she was mainly friends with my Mum and Dad I'm more concerned about them and her family than upset myself. It certainly puts things in perspective

I missed out on honours for my degree by a couple of marks, so I know how you feel. As you say in your post, there is so much more to you than your uni marks; you are a beautiful, intelligent and stylish lady with nothing to worry about. Missing it by three marks is so little that although this time you're upset, next time I'm sure you'll get that first.

*hugs*

Thanks, it's nice to have someone understand even though I know it's silly. The frustrating thing is I know I can do it and if I didn't think I could I would be happy just knowing I've worked hard. I do feel much better about things this morning though.

Everything has been put into perspective with what I mentioned in my above comment and a bit of time spent in the company of friends last night. Also, now the holiday is a mere three weeks away I have something lovely to look forward to - hurrah!

I hope work is going well for you by the way :)
