Fanfiction

I still remember my great disappointment in sequels written by sort of professional writers to "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen and "Gone with the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell. I was so let down by them that i decided then never to buy and read sequels that weren't written by authors of original works. They are simply below the mark. It's ( Read more... )

Yeah, those Jane Austen "sequels" are pathetic, aren't they? I think that generally, TV- or movie-based fanfiction works much better than sequels (or prequels or whatever) based on books, because the medium is different, there is no pressure to imitate the writer's style and manner of writing, and so on.

However, I never really thought I'd be into fanfiction either, and look at me now! :-D

Thank you for visiting my so-called blog.:) I'm sorry for not replying sooner but I was a bit caught up in RL. I've had quite good crops of quince this year and have been busy making a lot of preserves for the winter: quince liqueur, quince chutney with raisins and onion, quince chutney with cranberries and apples, quince confiture, jam etc. Apart from cornel and peaches it was the only fruit that yielded a good crop, the weather wasn't very fruit-friendly in my garden and spring frost destroyed all the apricot blastemas, while some insects ruined my usually resilient red currant bushes. I hope next year will be a better one ( ... )

Oh hello! :) yes, I understand that life gets busy. :)

I'll be happy to give you links to the original Russian stories. I've seen "Wenn Liebe Bricht" on fanfiction.net, but my German is practically non-existent, so I haven't even been trying to follow it.

Do stop by the forum!

I try baby steps with my Russian.:)I used to speak Russian quite well, but then I lost contact with this language for many years. I hit rock-bottom when coming by chance on a Russian website I had problems with recognizing particular letters of alphabet, not to mention a fluent reading. I got annoyed and took some steps to do something about it. So I started from the scratch, revising the written and printed alphabet, syntax, grammar and basic vocabulary. When I was checking a Russian Sherwood forum a few days ago searching for RH audiobooks links (unfortunately they turned out to be removed from Deposit host site:(), I found that I could understand the posts without much difficulty.:) But there is quite a wide gap between understanding and actively using the language. A long way to go ( ... )
