Okay, okay... just kidding. Actually, this is completely different from what I wrote about Sanzo for this challenge... you definitely did steal the title though. Now I'm going to have to come up with something else.
Sanzo can be awfully confusing, can't he? I think that is why I like writing him so much, it's always a challenge.
Anyway, I think you did a really good job on this. As hard as it is to nail down what's going on in Sanzo's head, the memory of his master was very real and very touching. It's pretty typical of him to not be able to see how Hakkai can have faith in him as well. Nice work.
lol, I don't think it counts as stealing when our stories are practically polar opposites ;p And I can never come up with titles... Next time I'll work harder to come up with some outlandish title, that no one else would think of using ^___^
Mm. I used to think I had a pretty good handle on Sanzo, but lately it's hard to know where his head is at. since his whole Running Off And Being A Moron Arc began I'm glad you found this coherent, though, I was a little worried. That it made sense to another Sanzo fan is quite reassuring (: Thanks for commenting!
I have theories about why he's been such a moron but ... I want to think well of Sanzo, and the mere fact that he's making such bad decisions (for whatever reason) makes that difficult. *whine* lol, it's really a problem of reconciling what I want from the character with what Minekura's giving us :p Definitely can't wait to see how she resolves this whole foofaraw.
This is wonderful, from the pondering of Koumyou to Hakkai's wryly humorous comment in the end. I like how the change in the mood isn't dramatic but still there. :')
Oh, Sanzo you poor dear ;_; Yeah, he's pretty pathetic here, huh? I'm not sure how much of this is me honestly analyzing Sanzo and how much is just projecting how I feel about recent events .... Ukoku did kick his ass pretty thoroughly, though, physically and psychologically. I'll be interested to see how he copes. Thanks so much for reading & commenting!
I really like this. I like the mood, the banter between Hakkai and Sanzo, and how you got into Sanzo's head. I like how he says just what he doesn't mean, but Hakkai gets it anyway. Very good. ^_^
says just what he doesn't mean I'm sad that I wasn't able to come up with anything for the "body language" prompt this comm had a while ago, because it is so true: what's important between these four is never spoken plainly. Hakkai, master of subtlety, seems like the best one to try and puzzle out Sanzo's thought process... X)
Koumyou should have said it plain: “Don’t believe in me. I’ll only disappoint you.” followed by Sanzo has nothing, nothing to say - except maybe “Hold nothing”, but Goku wouldn’t hear that, and in any case it wouldn’t help. Is just brilliant, and then
“You don’t have to be so harsh.” Sanzo just stares back. He doesn’t know another way to be. OW. Excellent last line too :) I can sympathize with not quite knowing where Sanzo's headspace is taking him - vol. 9 ended just shy of a conclusion! *argh*
I'm so glad you liked it :) And yes, major double ARGH on the latest arc. I've been all in a tizzy for the last two volumes straight *gnashing of teeth* I cannot wait to see this all worked out. In the meantime.... I'll just keep speculating :)
This is wonderful. I love the stream-of-consciousness of Sanzo's thoughts, and the dynamic of the conversation between himself and Hakkai. Nicely done.
Thank you so much. The conversation was interesting to write... usually it seems Sanzo doesn't have conversations so much as, perhaps, edicts :p It was neat to prod him into a frame of mind where he's actually open to someone else's ideas, albeit only momentarily. (MUAHAHA the godlike power of the writer!! XD) Thanks for reading & commenting!

Actually I kinda understand what he was thinking in the whole "running off and being a moron arc". How scary is that?
