Chapter 17 “I'm not gay!” Kibum shouted defensively.
“We're cool with gays, just so you know. That smart student-teacher of yours figured that out so don't try denying. We're really cool with it, so you don't have to distant yourself from us.” A guy smirked, nudging him.
“Hey Kibum, what do you think of me?” Another jerk asked, caressing Kibum’s shoulder, obviously making Kibum annoyed.
-
Kibum clenched his fist as he walked towards Kevin’s last class for the day. He wasn’t going to sit through another study buddy session again.
Classmates of Kevin’s gasped, watching Kibum who was now in double-spotlight ever since the gay rumour, before scampering away quickly. The gorgeous guy did look pretty angry.
“Let's stop this whole study buddy thing.” Kibum said as calmly as he could, but turned around before Kevin had a chance to reply.
Kevin stood up, shocked, before reminding himself mentally about the situation. Running after Kibum, he kept calling the older man only to receive a cold shoulder.
“Kim Kibum! Answer me, why?!” Kevin screamed, panting slightly as they climbed two levels towards the deserted science lab where Kibum planned on self-studying for the day. “You're improving in Mathematics and at least you can form simple sentences in English. We can work on the Sciences next, but don't just give up!”
Kibum stopped in his tracks and couldn't believe how clueless Kevin was. Without turning back, the older rolled his eyes. “Stop playing innocent, I won't fall for it.”
“What?” Kevin asked in a whisper, clearly confused. Unsurely, the younger took a few steps closer towards Kibum, as if doing so would help him understand..
“You put me through a hell lot of sufferings and you can still talk to me about my grades?” Kibum laughed humourlessly. “Really, what are you?”
“I don't get it, this isn't about your grades? Then why are we stopping this? And can you look at me when I’m talking?!” Kevin tugged at Kibum's arm for a clear answer, because right now, he was horribly perplexed. Confused, out of the situation, not in the know, and helplessly trying to find out an answer he usually can get by working out equations or reading between the lines and inferring from the text.
Sadly, Kibum was not a subject. He couldn’t be understood, especially not like that.
Kibum flung Kevin's hand away harshly, enraged at Kevin’s actions. He turned around and pushed Kevin to the nearest wall before crashing his lips roughly against Kevin’s. He doesn't know what got into him, but he thought this was the best way of revenge, best way to get back at Kevin. Apparently, he was wrong, because another boy's lips weren't meant to feel so right against his.
Kibum pulled away as abruptly as he had started the kiss, not turning back as he left Kevin collapsing onto the floor. “That's for telling the school population I'm gay.”
The boy on the floor cried, and he never thought he would cry so hard in his entire life.
-
“You stole my first kiss, decreased my credibility as a good teacher and ruined my concentration on every other thing because I am too damn preoccupied with the disturbing images in my head that keep appearing thanks to you.”
“I hate you so much, so extremely much.”
Kevin tried to convince himself that his internal clock was only temporarily spoilt. He's just experiencing shock and still suffering from the traumatizing event.
No, it can't be true. There can't be so much blood needed suddenly. It's illogical that his pulse was faster, no, when was his blood pressure so high? His blood vessels shouldn’t have dilated, his breathing didn’t just become irregular and his cheeks did NOT flush red. And no, he really didn’t kiss back…did he?
No, he really can't be in love. They didn’t even spend special times together, although they did meet way more than Soohyun and him met. His heart did not beat once within half a second, because that's too fast for his current state, and it was just lips coming in contact, nothing at all. No, he was not in denial. He didn't cry because Kibum was treating him like a trash, he only cried because his future might be ruined with a student stopping the study buddy programme.
So why did he experience an influx of oxytocin, also known as love hormones, in his body?
-
Kevin dragged his feet unwillingly towards the library, a little surprised when Soohyun was already there. As soon as the older student saw him, he sprung up from his chair and greeted Kevin with a wide smile.
“Our dance team won first in the national competition and I entered a singing competition last week and got first too!” Soohyun beamed brightly, very obviously unable to keep in the joy. “To top it off, I passed my Mathematics test! I also finally understood one lesson of Chemistry!”
Kevin smiled faintly, nodding and then taking a seat lethargically beside Soohyun’s seat.
Understanding Kevin’s body language, Soohyun immediately kept his smile, concernedly observing the younger boy. “Are you okay?”
“Nothing.” Kevin quickly said, sitting up straight as he remembered his job. He still had his future to work for. “It’s nothing. Take out your textbook, we’re doing Biology today.”
Soohyun continued being suspicious of Kevin’s behaviour, before deciding to let nature take its course. If Kevin were to tell him, he would tell him. “I just hope you feel better, you’re a really nice kid, after all.”
“T-Thanks.” Kevin stuttered, still not in the right frame of mind to hold a conversation. Would he pull through today’s session of study buddy programme?
“Oh, where’s Kibum?” Soohyun asked.
Kevin froze.
“He…he said he wanted to try a tuition teacher instead.”

HAHA, I wonder if this is counted as a climax or not, BUT THERE'S FINALLY SOME DEVELOPMENT!
