“Add fried fish, fried chicken, buttered broccoli and prawns.” A familiar voice ordered.

“That’s so oily!” A girl gasped, shaking her head at the diet.

“Oh? Cancel it. Buttered broccoli, prawns, the blocks of chicken breast there and steamed fish. Thanks, Kiseoppie-hyung.” Alexander smiled.

Kiseop greeted the younger back with a wide smile, while the girls around squeaked. Kiseop didn’t mind the girls, adding more steamed fish to the plate since he noticed at the dinner during the weekend that Alexander took more fish than anything else.

Alexander clapped his hands in delight as he paid for the food, winking to Kiseop happily after receiving his plate. “We can talk some time~!”

“Sure.” Kiseop nodded, waving a little before moving to serve the next customer.

Alexander started walking towards the usual seat he take with his clique, as the girls swarm to him and asked how he knew the very good looking cafeteria worker.

“Secret.” Alexander grinned, talentedly switching subjects and reporting the latest gossip.

-

Kevin groaned. Every time he tried to catch Alexander, he’ll either be really busy (spreading gossips), or gone.

This time, he isn’t going to bother about whether the mixed man had schedules or whatnots. He was going to catch this man and hang him to the ceiling, making sure he spits out all that he researched (if there was any) and the points he was going to raise in the competition.

How convenient was it that Alexander was walking straight towards him, though his head was turned to the many girls beside him.

Oh, Kevin realised a problem. No matter how urgent the competition was, he is unable to speak in front of THAT many girls!

He sighed, dropping his head and walking another direction.

Kevin would just have to try again later.

-

“Kevin! Kevin!” Kibum came running into Kevin’s English class, panting a little. “You need to- Oh, sorry.”

Everyone turned to stare, some girls squealed and Kibum being in their class, right before their eyes. Alexander quickly shifted closer towards Kevin, trying to get as much information as he could from the issue.

“Yes?” Kevin replied as if it was normal that Kim Kibum, the drop dead gorgeous man in their school, actually talks to him, the nerd with grades you’ll drop dead for. He didn’t even look up from his eighty-six pages long essay he did for the debate competition coming up.

Kibum awkwardly walked through rows of tables and leaned down, whispering. “I heard we’re getting a mock quiz after lunch, please help me?”

“You know very well that we only have study sessions twice a week, after school. Tuesday and Thursday. I make exceptions only when I’m free.” Kevin replied, uninterested. “Today, happens to be Wednesday, and I, happen to be memorising for my very important competition.”

Everyone looked in awe. It was as if they switched positions. Like, Kibum was the biggest nerd, trying to talk to the popular-for-his-face Kevin, but obviously Kevin wouldn’t talk to nerds. Ew, who talks to nerds? You’ll just be bombarded by crazy scientific terms, mathematical symbols or Greek words (count Latin in).

“The test would be done by then, and I would be screwed.” Kibum dropped his textbook on Kevin’s essay, blocking him from reading further. “Come on, five minutes?”

“No.” Kevin glared, picking up Kibum’s book and cruelly throwing it to the floor.

“I’ll teach you.” Alexander offered with a bright smile, seeing as it was Chemistry Kibum needed help with. He could do Chemistry, definitely. “I’m not bad myself.”

Kibum didn’t even give Alexander a glance, picking up his textbook and sighing. “Well, thanks for this. I’ll just complain you didn’t do a good job in teaching me.”

Kevin twitched, watching Kibum leave his classroom, a shining aura (to the others, obviously) despite being rejected.

“Complain?” Kevin repeated, realising his future was at stake.

Damn you, Kim Kibum.

Oh yeah, Alexander was echoing the same thoughts. How dare he just ignore Alexander (the Great)’s presence?

-

“You sure that’s all?” Kibum nervously asked. “I mean, I can remember all that.”

“Of course you can, I’ve been doing my job.” Kevin rolled his eyes.

“B-But what if I don’t score well!” Kibum sighed, slouching as if in defeat. “If even you can’t save me, I’m going to die.”

“…” Kevin scratched his head, trying to register what the words meant. “You’ll do well.”

“You think so?” Kibum straightened his back and looked at Kevin hopefully. “Like really well? As in, really? Well? I’m hoping to pass.”

“You’ll do more than just pass!” Kevin exclaimed. “Hey, I’m not self-praising, but I tirelessly went through key concepts twice in study session and once just now, and that’s all you need to know!”

“I’ll trust you on this. Well, on everything else, but this means everything to me right now.” Kibum grinned. “Thanks, I’ll give you a treat…on Saturday.”

Kevin thought he saw a wink, but he waved it away, wishing the older man luck.

-

“Kevin! What did you guys talk about in secret?” Alexander went straight to the point, smiling widely at Kevin.

“The competition.” Kevin looked back, lips as tight as Alexander thought it would be. “Have you done ANY research? What are the points you’ll be raising?”

“…” Alexander sighed, walking back to his seat.

Kevin growled internally. Just as he expected, Alexander Lee Eusebio, the gossip guy, obviously-

“Here.” Alexander dropped a thick file onto Kevin’s table, and another five page summary on top of the file. “Now, tell me all about it.”

Kevin couldn’t argue against that. He scanned through the summary, nodding at the research and then telling Alexander everything he knew, as he promised.

“That’s boring.” Alexander pouted. “Well, about my question last time? What do you have to do with Kiseoppie-hyung?”

Kevin blinked at Alexander’s affectionate term for Kiseop, but shrugged it away. “He’s a friend.”

“…” Alexander contemplated about the answer for a second, nodding. “That’s…all?”

“Uh, yeah? I order lunch from him and that’s about all.” Kevin flipped the pages a little more quickly. “Did you read everything here? It’s good research.”

“Obviously. When I put my heart into work,” Alexander exaggerated a bit, clutching his chest as if he was getting his heart out from his chest. “It turns out as golden as my heart.”

Kevin didn’t know how to reply, slightly frowning. “Uh, good. Then we’ll win this.”

“Oh, can I keep the medal?” Alexander grinned widely. “You know, to praise my golden heart?”

“…” Kevin bit his lower lip, needing the medal (actually, he thought he remembered it to be a trophy) for his university testimonial. “The best debater gets it. The judges will announce that, so don’t worry about that now.”

Alexander smirked. “May the best win.”

Kevin nodded approvingly.
