Chapter 15
"Excuse me?" A boy's voice suddenly was heard and their moment was gone faster than fast. Ueda opened his eyes slowly as he felt Ryo get off of him and sat down on the sand next to him instead.
"Yes?" Ryo said and glared at the boy, clearly annoyed. Ueda looked at the boy and noticed that it was the boy that had been kind enough to lend them some tools.
"Uh…" the boy started and tried to get away from Ryo's glare. "Can we get our things back? We're going home now…"
"Oh, of course" Ueda smiled at the boy and picked up the things from the sand and handed them to the little boy. "Thank you so much for letting us use them"
"You welcome" the boy smiled back, glad that Ueda wasn't as scary looking as the other one, before he ran back to his family.
"So, uh…" Ueda said turning around to face Ryo. He had no idea how to act around him now and that confused him. Should he mention the almost kiss or just let it pass? Why had he been prepared to happily accept the kiss? And why had Ryo in the first place leaned in? Did Ryo like him as more than a friend? A lot of difficult and confusing questions were buzzing around in his head like a busy beehive.
"So…" Ryo repeated and looked just as uncomfortable as Ueda felt.
"So…" Ueda said again and looked around him and that's when he noticed some of their friends walking in their direction. Jin's eyes were covered by the exact same sunglasses as Ryo had bought Ueda, with the exception that Jin's were green and not pink. Ueda felt so relieved that they soon would have company and glancing over at Ryo he could see that he seemed to think the same.
"Yo, what's up?" Yamapi asked as he and the rest joined them.
"No-nothing" Ryo answered a bit nervous and his eyes darted between Ueda and the others.
"You've started to build a castle!" Tegoshi squealed with delight as he noticed the half built and almost ruined castle.
"Yeah, but Ryo destroyed it" Ueda said as he slowly started to feel comfortable again.
"It was an accident!" Ryo defended himself and hit Ueda playfully on the upper arm. The touch caused them both to freeze and then blush slightly. The others looked at them and felt a change in the atmosphere but before anyone could comment on it Ueda recovered.
"Kame, can I talk to you?" he asked feeling a desperate need to talk to someone and Kame seemed to be the best choice.
"Sure" Kame smiled and tilted his head slightly to the left. "What do you wanna talk about?"
"Come!" Ueda said and grabbed a hold of Kame's wrist. "Let's take a walk"
"Oh, okay" Kame said amused as Ueda dragged him away. "See you in a bit" he called over his shoulder to their confused friends.

They didn't say a word until Ueda stopped in front of a bench quite far away from the others and sat down.
"So what do you wanna talk about?" Kame asked going straight to the point as he sat down next to his friend.
"Uh…" Ueda said starting to regret his plan when he felt the younger one's eyes focused on him.
"Is it about Ryo?" Kame asked taking the lead in the conversation.
"Yes" Ueda answered looking down at his hands.
"Did something happen between you two?" Kame asked and placed his hand softly on his friends shoulder.
"Yeah… well…" Ueda started slowly but continued in a much faster way making it a bit hard for Kame to follow it all. "Ryo-almost-kissed-me-and-I-wanted-him-to-but-I-don't-know-why-and-now-I'm-all-confused-and-I-don't-know-what-to-do. I'm going crazy!"
"Okay, so Ryo almost kissed you, right?" Kame asked just to make sure he had heard right and Ueda nodded. "When did this happen?"
"Just before you guys got here" Ueda answered and his eyes glanced away in the direction of where they had walked from.
"And why didn't he manage to kiss you?" Kame continued his questioning.
"We got interrupted by a little boy…" Ueda mumbled.
"So you were about to kiss on a beach full of people?" Kame's eyes grew a bit wider.
"Yeah, I guess… I mean I didn't even think of that, the people around us I mean…" Ueda blushed at his own and Ryo's stupidity. What if someone would've recognized them and taken pictures?
"I guess your mind was busy with other things" Kame smiled. "You said that you wanted him to kiss you, right? Have you felt that way at any other time?"
"I don't think so… I mean at least not that strongly." Ueda answered uncertain. "Am I going crazy? I mean who wants to kiss their friends?"
"You're not crazy" Kame chuckled and squeezed his friends shoulder with the hand that he had placed there earlier. "And to start with, you and Ryo have never really been friends. I know that you both have told us countless times that you are, but you've been acting more like a couple in love. Actions speak louder than words. So it's not your friend that you wanna kiss, it's your crush." Ueda blushed at Kames words but stayed quiet. "And it was Ryo who leaned in for the kiss so that can only mean that he likes you too. "
"But… maybe I was just imagining it all?" Ueda cut in.
"Do you really believe that?" Kame smiled. "Now think carefully about your time as "friends". Does anything in his actions tell you that he does not like you? Always holding your hand, buying you things, hugging you, and always wanting to spend time with you, alone. And the list goes on…"
"I guess you have some good points" Ueda contemplated.
"If I were you, I would confront him about it. Cause the sooner you do it, the sooner you can kiss and have even more fun together"
"Kamenashi!" Ueda cried out a bit scandalized at his friend's implications.
"Aww, come on Tat-chan. You know you want to!" Kame smirked.
"I'm starting to think Jin is rubbing off on you" Ueda mumbled. "What happened to the mature Kame? The one telling people off for teasing…"
"He started to fade away when you confessed that you like Ryo" Kame smirked once again making Ueda shake his head in a dejected manner. "So what you have to do now is to get Ryo alone, which won't be that hard, and then kiss him."
"Kiss him?" Ueda asked confused and surprised. "Isn't it better to talk to him first?"
"As I said earlier; action speaks louder, my dear friend"
"I guess but still… what if he doesn't kiss back and I make a total fool out of myself?"
"Oh, he'll kiss you back. I'm sure of it" Kame said and got up from the bench. "Let's go back to the others"
"Okay, but don't you dare tell anyone about this conversation" Ueda warned his friend before he got up as well.
"Of course I won't" Kame smiled. "I won't even tell Jin, even if he threatens me with a sex strike. He won't last a day anyways…"

When Ueda and Kame got back to where they had left their friends they found Ryo to be the only one still on land while the others where in the water laughing and having fun.
"I'm going to join the others" Kame said and winked at Ueda, who knew exactly what Kame wanted to say with the wink. Ueda and Ryo just gave Kame a nod as a reply to his announcement as he made his way down to the others in the water.
"So…" Ueda said sitting down in the sand next to Ryo.
"Soo…" Ryo echoed "So what did you and Kame do?"
"We just talked" Ueda answered glancing over at Ryo from the corner of his eyes.
"I see." Ryo replied and they fell silent; none of them sure of what more to say or talk about. They sat like that for a while just watching their friends having fun in the sea in front of them, both deep in thoughts. Suddenly Ueda felt something grabbing a hold of his hand that was lying on the sand next to him. He turned his head to see what it was and saw that it was Ryo's hand that was holding a firm yet soft hold of his hand. He smiled and looked up to face Ryo and as their eyes meet his smile grew wider and Ryo smiled back just as brightly.
"What do you say we ditch these guys for a while and go and buy some ice cream?" Ryo asked still with the smile plastered on his face.
"Sounds like a great idea to me" Ueda answered, happy that the awkward tension that had been hanging around them for the last hour seemed to disappear. They got up from the sand and grabbed their things and as they started to walk away Ryo grabbed a hold of Ueda's hand. None of them was aware of the fact that Kame was watching them from the water with a big smile on his face.

After getting the ice cream Ueda's treat this time, they decided to walk around the small town and explore it. They walked pass various houses with nice and not so nice gardens, and as they walked around they noticed that the town was a bit bigger than they thought but it still didn't have much of interest. They talked about all kinds of things and Ueda had a great time except from the fact that in the back of his head Kame's advice to talk about the incident with Ryo, or rather just kiss him straight away, was nagging him.

When they had been walking around for over an hour they came across what seemed to be a small restaurant or bar of some sort.
"Wanna go inside?" Ryo asked as they stopped in front of it. It seemed to be a nice family owned place. "Maybe get something to drink?"
"Sure, why not" Ueda smiled and they made their way inside. The room they stepped into wasn't big, and consisted of a bar with a few chairs and then a few tables spread around the room. Behind the bar an elderly lady was standing drying some newly dished wine glasses, she looked up when she heard them enter.
"Welcome!" she smiled at them as they sat down on the chairs by the bar disk. "What can I get you?"
"A glass of red wine for me" Ueda smiled, he felt that if he was going to manage to talk to Ryo he would need some help on the way.
"I'll have a beer" Ryo said and then twirled around on his chair taking in the room.
"It's nice in here" he commented. "I like it"
"I'm glad to hear that" the lady said as she placed their drinks in front of them.
"You've worked here your whole life?" Ueda asked making conversation with the lady as he started to sip on his wine.
"Ever since I married my husband 45 years ago" the old lady smiled. "He inherited this place from his father"
"Ah, so this is a really old and historical place then" Ryo said before he gulped down some of his beer.
"Old, yes" the woman smiled. "Historical, no I do not think so since nothing much ever happen around here"
"But there must be some nice or funny stories in the history of this place" Ueda contemplated just as the door to the place opened again and a group of people walked inside.
"Excuse me a moment" the lady smiled and walked out from behind the bar and made her way towards the table at where the customers had sat down.
"I bet that if these walls could talk, they'd have plenty of stories to tell us" Ueda smiled facing Ryo.
"Yeah, and now it has one more." Ryo smirked. "A story about the evening Japan's most amazingly hot and handsome idols visited him."
Ueda just chuckled at his friend's comment and then finished his glass of wine, but he couldn't help but take a note of the fact that Ryo had called him hot and handsome, even if he had given himself the same compliment. When the lady got back Ueda ordered another glass of wine, and they continued to talk nonsense with each other and now and then included the lady. As the time passed more people came into the restaurant and more and more wine was consumed by Ueda, much to Ryo's amusement. Ryo himself had only had two and a half beers by the time Ueda had consumed almost seven glasses of wine two hours later.
"Ryo, I have something I want to talk to you about" Ueda said, the wine making him feel brave.
"Okay, but let me just go to the bathroom first okay?" Ryo said and patted Ueda on the shoulder as he got up from his seat. Ueda nodded and smiled as he watched Ryo walk away.

"What the hell's happened to Tat-chan?" Kame's worried voice woke Ueda up and he noticed that he was placed on the back of Ryo - in other words he was given a piggy back from the younger man. And they were back at the hotel, in the lobby more exactly and that's where Kame had met them.
"He had a bit too much to drink" Ryo answered, none of them noticed that Ueda had woke up.
"We better, get him into bed" Kame said. "How much did he drink?"
"Seven glasses of wine" Ryo answered as they made their way to the elevator.
"And nothing to eat with it, right?" Kame said and glanced over at Ueda, who had closed his eyes again and just enjoyed the closeness with Ryo.
"Just an ice cream" Ryo smirked, "I have no idea why he drank so much…"
"Yeah well, he probably didn't intend to drink that much" Kame said and they stepped inside the elevator. "Do you wanna join us out for dinner, or are you going to stay and take care of Tat-chan?"
"I think I should stay in case he wakes up and need me." Ryo said and Ueda opened his eyes slightly to look at Kame to see his reaction. Kame had a big smirk on his face and looked straight at Ueda, who quickly closed his eyes but Kame had probably already noticed that he was awake.
"Okay, I'll tell the others. We can bring something back to you maybe if you want" Kame said and the elevator doors opened their floor.
"That would be great thanks" Ryo answered and Ueda could tell that he was smiling. They walked out and Kame helped Ryo open the door to their room before he left them alone.

Ryo carefully laid Ueda down on the bed and took his shoes off before he pulled the bedcover over Ueda. It felt nice being taken care of like this and Ueda continued to fake being asleep. He felt how Ryo crawled up on the bed next to him and laid down, when he carefully glanced over at the other he found him with a magazine in his hands. He continued to look at the reading man and a smile grew upon his lips. Suddenly Ryo turned his face his way and he got caught.
"For how long you've been awake?" Ryo asked and put the magazine down and turned his whole body so that he was lying on the side facing Ueda.
"A while" Ueda smiled.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Ryo said as he pulled a few hair strains that had fallen in front of Ueda's eyes behind his ear. "And is there anything you want? A glass water perhaps?"
"Water would be nice" Ueda said and sat up, Ryo did the same but then he got up and walked into the bathroom to get some water.
"You drank quite a lot" Ryo commented as he got back from the bathroom and handed Ueda the glass.
"Sorry for that" Ueda said and blushed before emptying the whole glass of water.
"It's okay" Ryo said sitting down on the bed again. "Oh, and you told me you wanted to talk to me about something earlier but you never got the chance. Cause when I got back from the bathroom you was already sleeping on the bar."
"Sorry for that too" Ueda said and blushed even more and tried to hide his blushing face from Ryo. "And I can't remember what it was I wanted to talk to you about…" he lied, of course he knew exactly what it was but he was too chicken to ask him about it now. And if Ryo figured out that that was the reason behind his drinking Ryo would most likely find it amusing and maybe even laugh. Even though Ueda loved seeing Ryo smile and laugh he didn't want to become a laughing stock. Maybe he'll talk to him about it tomorrow or maybe not.
"It's okay" Ryo said taking the glass away from Ueda's hand and placed it on the bed side table. "Maybe you'll remember tomorrow or maybe it wasn't anything that important"
"Yeah, I'll think I'll sleep some more now" Ueda lay down again and closed his eyes. He felt Ryo lying down behind him and a moment later he felt the others arm sneak around his waist and pull him in closer.
"Good night princess" was the last thing that Ueda heard before he drifted into a peaceful slumber.
