THE RED CARPET rubycitymods January 1 2012, 01:41:37 UTC
That long red carpet will prove the only way into the cathedral tonight, and it's even more well-lit than the walls are with larger versions of those gold and silver glass orbs lining its velvet-roped sides. The cathedral doors themselves stand open to cast a bright highlight on the carpet where it leads inside. Whoever is approaching will find themselves well-lit and well-observed... So it might behoove them to be looking their best. The invitations had specified that this would be a formal affair, and the figures milling near the entrance do seem to confirm that; Tuxedos and capes are prevalent, and elegant gowns in every color of the spectrum glitter in the uneven light cast over the carpet. The only things shining brighter than the decorations at this soiree are its attendants, and surely you're no different. What better place to strut your stuff?

Gwendolen strode down the long red carpet, feeling like a queen indeed, dressed in a fine gown http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa266/SugerG/Other/Wedding/Wedding%20Gowns/gothic_ball_gown_wedding_dress_and_bolero_jacket_71481.jpg and long white gloves , her fair hair pinned up in curls with a diadem, and a lovely confident smile. The young girl was excited. This was her first real ball, and she hoped things would go quite well.

Ah, New Years. A gala event that Austrian had observed with the rest of Vienna alongside the grand Vienna Philharmonic since the grand orchestra had begun their traditional Neujahrskonzert. Despite being in a strange place, he refused to see this New Years in without a celebration.

He'd miraculously found fine clothing to wear for the evening, a finely tailored white suit with blue trim, and looked up at the cathedral for the second time in the week with a stoic expression. He could hear the elegant waltzes and polkas emanating out from the halls of the grand building, and for a moment, his heart twinged with longing for home.

Pls ignore that the dress's model is apparently afraid of a ceiling fan. unit_202 January 1 2012, 19:38:58 UTC
Formal events weren't exactly 202's usual fare, to say the least, but the invitation had been a hard one to pass up. Trying to ignore the feelings of awkward self-consciousness that her dress was causing, she made her way down the carpet towards the cathedral, freezing just as she came into the glow cast by the open doors to look up in wonderment at the lights. But not in horror, like it looks in that dress picture. This all seemed quite extravagant, even by their hosts' standards... And she didn't quite trust it.

Glancing about in search of any familiar faces, she continued towards the doors.

"Here goes nothing..."

THE ENTRYWAY rubycitymods January 1 2012, 01:41:52 UTC
A fine spot for pausing to meet up with friends, to shed outerwear, or simply to take in the sight of the beautifully-transformed cathedral interior, the entryway is spacious and presents a fine view of the party's goings-on from an elevated standpoint. Smaller versions of the magically-suspended light globes from outside illuminate this area comfortably, well enough to see by without being dazzled. There's seating here, rich velvet chairs and couches, for those who aren't quite adventurous enough to enter just yet, but no refreshments-- The partygoers will need to venture in before too long, should they find themselves wanting anything beyond talk and a pretty view.

Just like Austria, Feliciano found himself reminded of the splendour of his home city as he followed the red carpet into the cathedral, the music becoming ever louder, luring him closer.

In an uncharacteristically morose mood as he had been in ever since Lovino vanished for the second time within a few weeks, he had been uncertain whether he wanted to attend the ball at all. He had foregone both Christmas parties, not feeling in the mood for company. Solitude, however, did not suit him, nor did brooding, and so he had hunted for the most dashing tuxedo he could find and made his way to the ball. Now that he heard the orchestra, he knew that he had made the right decision. The beautiful music, the decorations, the festive atmosphere, they all served to make his heart feel lighter, make him feel more like himself.

Without realizing it right away, Feliciano began to hum along to the music, his steps became lighter and more playful as his legs became restless with the desire to dance.

Feliciano had just been about to debate with himself whether he should first check out the food or find someone to dance with when a very, very familiar child's voice yelled his name.

Feli froze, feeling as if he had been punched in the gut, feeling hot and cold and a bit sick all at once. The last time he had heard that voice outside of dreams and memories had been in the haunted house. What a horrible experience that had been. He was still haunted by that not-Holy Rome's cruel accusations, all the more so ever since Ludwig had confessed his love to him in his roundabout way.

But this voice... It wasn't malicious and cold, this was the Holy Roman Empire, cheerful, loving, sweet Holy Rome as he remembered him, not that horrible thing wearing his face.

He turned slightly and there he saw him rushing towards him, his Holy Rome just as he remembered him, a child nation dressed in black.

"Holy..."

THE DANCEFLOOR rubycitymods January 1 2012, 01:42:13 UTC

No event of this sort could be complete without a nice open space for those among the city's population who might find themselves inclined to dance. The polished wood of the cathedral's floor makes for an inviting space, open and gleaming as it is with the reflected light of what appear to be either stars or fireflies floating high above it. The music is at its most obvious here, though still lacking in a clear source-- It might as well be coming from those hovering lights, or from the walls themselves. Anybody out on the dancefloor ought to have other things to focus on, however, than where the music is coming from... It's far more worthwhile to simply take advantage of its steady variety and find a partner to take out onto that shining expanse for a song or three.

Goro was standing near the dancefloor, glancing down to his suit and tie a few times, stil not entirely sure if he picked the right outfit. It had been a toss up between what he was currently wearing, and a gray suit instead. Listening to the music and trying to pinpoint it, Goro hummed along before remarking more to himself than anyone who might be around;

"I should find someone to dance with!"

The scent was familiar, but it wasn't until 202 all-but bumped into Goro that she actually managed to make sense of what her nose was telling her. Doing a slight double-take, she blinked in surprise before looking appraisingly at the sight of her friend as she'd never quite seen...him... before.

"M...Miss Goro?"

Not so much of a 'Miss' after all, or so it seemed. Breaking into a smile, she chuckled softly in surprise.

"You look fantastic!"

Goro blinked as 202 approached him, wondering what the surprised look was for. But when she addressed him as she usually did, it clicked. Smiling widely at the compliement, he straightened himself up.

"Yep, it's me! Surprised?"

He blushed a little at the compliment. "Ah, t- thanks! So do you! This place looks amazing, doesn't it?"

THE REFRESHMENTS rubycitymods January 1 2012, 01:42:25 UTC
Long tables line the sides of the cathedral's interior, piled high with finger foods and littered with the favorite drinks of the city's residents, as well as several punchbowls in various colors and
champagne arrangements aplenty. There are smaller tables tucked off to the sides should the guests wish to sit and converse or simply rest their feet while they partake of the goodies, the lighting noticably dimmer and lending more of an air of privacy to those alcoves. What a fine place to meet up with friends... Or perhaps even get to know a new one.

There is no better way to celebrate the End of the old year and the beginning of the new year than with booze and a big bang. Yet Gilbert noticed that something with him was not quite right at the moment. Everything looked larger than him, if not huge.

"Hey, pass me the beer!" Huh, his voice sounded off. Maybe he yelled a bit too much the last few days.

Gwendolen had stopped squirming in her now too large for her gown and looked over to see the tiny boy. Did the same thing happen to him as well? The sight of him asking for beer was rather silly.
"I don't think you can have beer like you, you know"

What was that supposed to mean? He is an adult, so why couldn't he drink beer then? And that girl looked kind of ridiculous with the too large clothes. But it's a little girl and he doesn't make fun of children. "I can drink as much beer as I like!"
