THE DANCEFLOOR

No event of this sort could be complete without a nice open space for those among the city's population who might find themselves inclined to dance. The polished wood of the cathedral's floor makes for an inviting space, open and gleaming as it is with the reflected light of what appear to be either stars or fireflies floating high above it. The music is at its most obvious here, though still lacking in a clear source-- It might as well be coming from those hovering lights, or from the walls themselves. Anybody out on the dancefloor ought to have other things to focus on, however, than where the music is coming from... It's far more worthwhile to simply take advantage of its steady variety and find a partner to take out onto that shining expanse for a song or three.

Goro was standing near the dancefloor, glancing down to his suit and tie a few times, stil not entirely sure if he picked the right outfit. It had been a toss up between what he was currently wearing, and a gray suit instead. Listening to the music and trying to pinpoint it, Goro hummed along before remarking more to himself than anyone who might be around;

"I should find someone to dance with!"

The scent was familiar, but it wasn't until 202 all-but bumped into Goro that she actually managed to make sense of what her nose was telling her. Doing a slight double-take, she blinked in surprise before looking appraisingly at the sight of her friend as she'd never quite seen...him... before.

"M...Miss Goro?"

Not so much of a 'Miss' after all, or so it seemed. Breaking into a smile, she chuckled softly in surprise.

"You look fantastic!"

Goro blinked as 202 approached him, wondering what the surprised look was for. But when she addressed him as she usually did, it clicked. Smiling widely at the compliement, he straightened himself up.

"Yep, it's me! Surprised?"

He blushed a little at the compliment. "Ah, t- thanks! So do you! This place looks amazing, doesn't it?"

"Very surprised."

She laughed good-naturedly, amused at her own prior confusion. Nodding when he continued, she smiled again at the compliment.

"Thank you... It certainly is quite a change, isn't it? I think our hosts must either just like confusing us, or else they have a genuine fondness for these sorts of events. It seems a bit much effort to go through just for the sake of a new year, though, don't you think?"

Goro nodded. "It does kinda seem like a lot.. But it's still really nice." He blinked, derailing the conversation to ask suddenly; "Hey, 202, does my voice sound different?" While he wasn't speaking in his usual mistaken-for-a-girl voice, his natural voice wasn't usually as deep as Goro was hearing.

"Well..." Now that he mentioned it...

"It sounds much different than I'm used to hearing you, but I'd just assumed it was because you were being, ah..."

Was there any polite way to phrase this?

"...Masculine."

Goro thought about that and then nodded with a laugh. "No way! My normal voice isn't this deep at all!" He reached up, touching his forehead. "I don't feel warm, either, and my throat isn't sore."

"How odd..." Frowning in confusion, 202 eyed her friend again. "Do you feel all right otherwise? Nothing else seems amiss...?"

It wasn't like her to be so unobservant, but the sudden realization that her friend was a man had taken her somewhat off-guard.

[[Ahahaha yes, that is indeed pretty damn deep. For Goro anyway. xD]]

"I'm all right otherwise! A little taller, but that isn't really a bad thing, right?"

Seeming to realize something, Goro suddenly remarked. "Ah, are you okay, 202? You're not.." he paused, thinking of the right word. "Not too shocked, are you?"

"Hmm? No, not too shocked--Mostly just embarrassed, that's all. I usually wouldn't miss something like that."

She nodded, smiling again.

"And I suppose you are taller, aren't you... I must not have noticed, thanks for the change in costumes."

Demonstratively extending one foot out from beneath the skirts of her dress to reveal that she was wearing actual high heels, she shrugged and chuckled. That would indeed account for her failure to catch that little change of his.

"Aw! Well, you shouldn't feel too embarrassed, it's okay!"

Goro looked at the heels, blinking. "Oh! Those are really nice!" Nodding, he looked back up at her. "Right, with those on you seem a little taller, too."

Idly striking some dust away from one of his suit arms, he smiled. "I guess tonight's really full of suprises, huh?" It was still kind of jarring to hear the voice coming out of his mouth, though Goro wouldn't admit that.

Suddenly, he asked. "Ah, would you like to dance?"

"Dance? Me?" She blinked in surprise once more, then broke into a small, self-conscious laugh. "I don't really know how. That was never an official part of my training, you understand..."

Goro clapsed his hands together suddenly. "Well, yeah.. We could practice now! It's really not that hard- you just have to pay attention to when to change your steps." Lowering one of his hands back to his waist, Goro held his dominate one towards 202.

"If you'd like to, of course. We don't have to."

Goro's enthusiasm was just as hard to ignore as ever, regardless of his apparent gender. Catching that infectious spirit of his, 202 smiled and nodded once after a moment's consideration.

"Well... Okay."

After a moment more, her smile became an out-and-out grin and she cocked a brow at her friend, clearly teasing him.

"I'll trust you not to let me get hurt this time, all right?"

"I'll do the best I can, but promise nothing."Goro answered with a grin to match hers.

Taking her hand, Goro looked mildly surprised at how fluidly he moved. Pushing the shock out of the way, he listened to the music for a moment. Finding the beat and stepping towards the dance floor, he lead 202.

"Ah, this is actually kind of quick!" As a lively blend of strings sounded around the area, Goro smiled. "All right, first- two quick steps, almost like you're skipping."

Hesitating for a second to make sure she was ready, Goro then went into the steps, keeping a grip on 202's hand.
