After that, she went downstairs and found a present from Santa. Upon seeing the photo inside, her eyes lit up as best they could and she vanished into the basement

[The raccoon head seems suitably shocked by being chased, if no less than by the mere nature of its present existence. It scampers back to 1664 Nelson and runs through the conveniently placed cat door]

[Cynric comes to a stop at the door and tries to peer in through the cat door. Failing to see anything, he simply knocks.]

[There's silence for a handful of time and then the door opens with Fran peeping out]

[Walking down the street, Miki sees someone with a sack wandering around the woods picking up corpses. Since this is more interesting than her current task of doing nothing, Miki silently approaches Fran as she collects a her next prize.]

"Uhh, what are you doing?"

[Fran glances up, at the girl and then back to the sack she's carrying]

The town saw fit to return my lab, so I'm gathering research materials~

[Fran looks confused for a moment, cocking her head, wondering if the town had renamed her again by the usual shuffling of residents, but then realizes the man is being more direct]

Madaraki, actually~ My name is Fran Madaraki~

I suppose I should welcome you though you no doubt have seen how we're treated here~ Frankly, I think this is some sort of social experiment that we've been abducted into, so for the time being it is probably best to keep one's head down~

[Despite saying this, the raccoon head attached to a human hand scampers into some bushes behind her, unnoticed by the young scientist]
