Ich muss geröntgt werden. That word..."geröntgt", due to how it sounds, is probably the worst word in German (besides "das Handy" of course.) I've had a kidney stone for a couple weeks now. I keep peeing blood. Pain comes and goes but never escalates to anything even remotely close to what I experienced with my first kidney stone. This damn ( Read more... )

Erm...actually it's "geröngt" and I do not have a problem with pronouncing that! It's probably northern "style", same as "Hamburch". :)

Are you sure it's a kidney stone? This sounds rather bad...

Hmm...according to this German grammar website it's geröntgt. Damn websites...

Umm...the doc seems really sure it's a kidney stone...I don't know...I'm just not that worried. We'll find out in a week or so for sure.

I looked it up in the all-time greatest German dictionary (Duden :)) and it says there:

röntgen (mit Röntgenstrahlen durchleuchten); du röntgst; sie wurde geröngt

So when you add werde/wurde there is no t before the g/after the n :)

I was not that sure anymore when I read oh_carolina's comment... since I tend to be wrong with corrections :)

ich sage auch "geröntgt" und "hamburg" und "honig" statt "geröntcht", "hamburch" und "honich". bah, schrecklich. ich hätte niemals in den norden ziehen sollen ;-)

help me out with my German studies and I'll help you with your Swedish? ;)

I hope the x-ray and stuff goes okay. Having a kidney stone doesn't sound very nice. :S

I'm not a native German speaker, but I'd be more than happy to (try to) help you out with your German. My German's not bad at all, but I still need friends to proofread my essays and such. Where shall I forward my next translation assignment to? ;)

have you learnt by listening or by taking classes and learning grammar?
I just realised that I'm not very good at German-Swedish translations.. But I'm good at Swedish :D (At least I hope I am :P)

I've been learning German since highschool...since I was 14...gah...that's like 9 years! I majored in it in college and now I live in Germany. But yeah -I've taken a lot of German classes in my life.

I think my problems are that say things in Swedish that one wouldn't say. I should give you an example of an assignment I've already done to show you what I mean...

I have to agree that "das Handy" is the worst word I've learned in any language. I'm always embarrassed to say it because I feel like I'm talking about a handjob.

And I wish you well with the crunching. There needs to be a better way to get rid of kidney stones.

Great...now I can't use my cell phone anymore without feeling pseudo-sexual. It was better when I just felt silly and stupid. :)

Yeah...there really is no real good way to get rid of them...either you pee it out as a chunk or as itty bitty pieces broken up by sound waves. Thanks for your well-wishing! :)
