A New Angle
I've decided to try more training for better qualifications and pause the job search for a bit. It hurts my pride, knowing even two BAs aren't enough schooling, but frankly I can't see any other way to change "careers". So I've joined Codecademy and I'm learning Data Analysis and SQL in the hopes of landing a tech job. I hate it, I don't want to do ( Read more... ) -
I know I shouldn't get my hopes up
I'm applying to more and more places for copy editor and editorial assistant jobs, especially remote ones. I know those are likely going to go to someone who's already got their foot in the door, but I guess I can't help it. Those are really where I want to be in my life. It's the definition of insanity, but that isn't stopping me.

Living arrangements
I've lived with my brother for almost 3 years now, with a 6 month gap in the middle. At first I was sleeping on his couch while I found a job and saved up money for an apartment. Later, he came to sleep in my second bedroom to save rent so he could put a down payment on a house. This went on for 1.5 years while the housing market lost its damn mind ( Read more... ) -
Like a strand in the wind
Ups and downs... but at least my life isn't dull? I had a second job for all of 2 shifts before Christmas. The management was so toxic, so micro-managing, so belittling to the employees, I couldn't do it. And as a leader, they honestly expected me to participate in that bullshit as well. Nope. Well, maybe
I have been given a chance. Two, in fact. Two phone interviews that led to in-person interviews. One was as a receptionist at a hospital, and another as a civil servant. Waiting to hear back now, both were going to be kept open until the end of October to give people a chance to apply. I can only keep my fingers crossed, especially for the civil ( Read more... ) -
And the days go by
More applications for some sort of better job. More screaming into the void, "Just give me a chance, let me prove I can do it!" And more silence in response. Not even a rejection, just cold indifference and hollowness. It's late and I should be in bed.
But I'm still up watching videos and stressing myself out about the state of things today. No specifics just because, but things today honestly scare me a bit. I never thought fascism would gain such a foothold here. It's weird, to think that I've had this account for almost 20 years now. And it used to be such a daily part of my life. Things are so different now. I don't have any friends, and I wonder how the ones I used to have are doing. The directions their lives took, the ups and downs that happened along the way.
