Hi! Latimir's Heroes, reporting about the Febuary 11th 'accident' incident and resultant building sweep!

We discovered found another spool of thread and nails lying around, not yet set up or anything, but I can only presume it was for another nasty trip line! We found it on the third floor staircase. Perhaps the culprit ran.

Thank you, Naoto informed me of your findings.

There wasn't any sign that they could have still been in the building, was there? I suspect that they might have been ready to set up another, but when they heard Takagi fall, fled. They could have assumed that others would have heard him.

No signs of an actual culprit that we know of, sorry,

Then what I suspect is most likely. Shit.. Although they could have been long gone before the victim ever came outside.

Continue to look out for anyone suspicious of small stature that doesn't usually frequent the building.

Hey! I was told you were the man to contact about joining up with the police force here. How can I do that?

Yes, hello. If you were sent my way, you must already know who I am, but I'm Minato Arisato.

It isn't difficult. First, what is your name and can you tell me what sort of experience you have?

Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes, sir! Back home I was head of investigation, and I have field work to back it up.

I see. Some things may be different from one world to the next, so would you mind telling me what sort of duties you had as head of investigation?

Arisato.

Please read this. I will change the filter so you may. I believe it speaks for itself. I will continue to speak to him. It should be stressed that he has no proof, but it is a convincing lead.

... Thank you, Naoto-kun. It's very useful- learn as much as you can. Please ask about the symptoms, so that if it is related, we can maybe make some sort of announcement in the near future.

Of course.

Although if it is known the symptoms present as illness, it may cause something of a... fervor. Remember when chicken pox went around, a few months ago?

Yes. I remember how it was treated...

...

If it's related to the murders, do you suppose it could be stopped, if the suspects were detained?

The cat's pretty much out of the bag regarding your investigation into the current crisis, so better now than later. I'd like to join up with the police force.

I need to know if you can handle keeping only your duty in mind, and not taking matters into your own hands. Arrests need to be mad, and we don't condone killing or punishing someone by your own personal standards, no matter what the circumstance. If you can't handle taking revenge or what you believe to be justice out of the picture, then we can't have you.

Do you understand?

smokinshinigami June 18 2009, 16:34:32 UTC
Understood. Justice isn't something any single man gets to decide on by himself, anyway; I worked in law enforcement long enough to know that.

If I disagree with the actions of the police force, you'll know, but there's a job to be done here.

That's good. The more experience on the police force, the better.

Disagreeing isn't an issue. It's whether or you can still do your job, even if you do. All I can do is take your word for it, and trust that you'll do so. Thank you for offering us your help.

Excuse me, but would you be Minato Arisato? If so my name is Credo, and I was told by a Judge Magister Gabranth that you were the one to speak to concerning the force.

I have been here for a little while now and though I can help others on my own, it would make more sense to do so in a group effort. What information or requirements would you need from me?

Reply

purgatory_maren June 23 2009, 08:01:24 UTC
Yes, I am. Pleased to meet you, Credo.

It's very simple, since there's only so much of a limit we can put on it here. We're always desperate for officers, so our requirements are not much. You need fighting experience, and I would prefer that you weren't in any sort of trouble if you were an officer or in a position of authority back in your own world, but even then there are exceptions.

If you could, tell me your thoughts on officers taking matters into their own hands and punishing or killing a suspect. Do you think that that's alright, or would you do that yourself in any given situation?

loyal_credo June 23 2009, 19:06:50 UTC
Mm, a pleasure.

At least you try to regulate who you take on in some way. I'm sure it helps keep out some potential trouble makers.

I was the head of the Holy Knights of the Order back on Fortuna. The island I lived on, not this world. As for fighting I'm versed in the sword, mostly heavier blades, though I do have powers that allow me to change my form into something stronger if needed. Though I've heard a 'chip' blocks my powers right now... I'll have to see about getting it removed as soon as possible.

I'll admit, being the head of the Holy Knights I was the one who made decisions on punishment for suspects. Besides the overriding order of His Holiness, it was myself who was responsible for things. But if it's against the law here and what you expect of us then I wouldn't do it. It's that simple. If you're going to work under someone then you need to learn how to take orders and follow through. Unless I find you're corrupt in your judgment of things then I see no reason to go against it.

It has so far. There was an incident in the past that has changed things. All I can do is ask, but going against the rules and laws will only really hurt the one who commits the crime, so relying on their word should be suitable for the most part.

Thank you, I appreciate you explaining things to me. We do things differently here, mainly because things like executions are completely useless. People will only be revived, and most likely no longer be in our custody. The punishments may not seem harsh enough at that, but there isn't very much we can do that won't make us just as bad.

Well, Mr. Credo, I think it you would be very helpful to our police force. If you could come down to the station within the next day or two, I'll explain the rules and laws. Is there a particular patrol shift you would like to do? Mornings, evenings, and late nights are available.
