Christmas break has started for me!
Is there any real value in a holiday that only seems to exist anymore to remind us of what we don't have, can't have, and never will have?
We should be able to get and use some kind of social PTO to get out of holiday events such as this. So it would be called HTO (holiday time off). "Nah, I can't Christmas this ( Read more... ) -

Last weekend I went to a Lego store. Something about it was different. It seemed like there weren't as many sets as usual. They had enough to fill the shelves, but only by repetition. That is, previously a particular set would take up a very narrow space on the shelf but now the exact same set would cover several linear feet, 4 or 5 boxes wide ( Read more... ) -

Got Ai's power steering bits all put back together, and then I got some rusty bits patched up. Now that she's running and passed inspection, I can finally sweep the floor of all the rusty metal flakes, some of them larger than others. Google Maps is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it's great for getting a visualization of somewhere without needing to physically be there. It's a very useful and powerful tool. For example, such as figuring out how to handle a potentially tricky intersection ahead of time. And if StreetView goes back far enough, it's like going back in time ( Read more... ) -

At my mom's house there's a picture of me when I was no older than 4 years old, standing in front of a toy racing game thing on what I think was Christmas morning. I remember that moment too.
