[It's just a bit past noon when the video flickers on--then off--then on again, wobbling in and out of darkness before finally bringing into focus the sight of a train compartment, and a slightly rumpled-looking girl sitting on the soft blue cushions, gazing intently out the window. Her own silence makes the noises of the ( Read more... )

Rosella?

[ooc: He'll hurry down to her compartment as quick as he can if need be.]

[It takes her a second to locate where the sound is coming from--her gaze goes first to the window, then the door, then finally to the device near her on the seat.]

Cain?

[OOC: He is welcome to visit! Justin may also be around, depending on how Veda decides to have him pop in.]

Are you all right? I'll be there in a moment, if you'd like.

I thought I saw something...outside, have you looked out the windows? Where are you?

[Sometime after noon, Justin finds himself wandering from car to car, looking for--

Well, he doesn't know. It'd be wonderful if he happened to come across Shilo. Hopefully there won't be any more bodies. He didn't get to see the first, but the second was enough. The combination of a pair of apparent murders with being underground (being buried alive more than once has given Justin a perfectly reasonable fear of all things involving being under the ground instead of on top of that) and disturbing images outside the darkened windows has Justin on edge and looking bit green.

Ah, there's someone he knows. The girl from the play. Rosella. She looks far worse than he feels, and she's the first acquaintance he has stumbled across...]

What do you see out of the windows?

[Okay, it's not quite hello. It works.]

[And for the second time in such a short while, Rosella jumps about a mile; however, this time it's clear to see the relief flooding through her features as she notices Justin, and realizes that she recognizes him.]

Justin! Goodness, it's nice to see you.

[Well, to see any friendly face, really, but that's entirely beside the point.]

Come in, won't you? Please? Have you looked out there, too?

Sorry. ...It's nice to see you, too.

[At least Rosella didn't have a heart attack and die. That would've just been the icing on the evil, train-shaped cake. Justin slips in, taking great care to avoid looking out the windows.]

I have. I'd rather not look again.

[Thankfully, she has not inherited her father's propensity for heart attacks at sudden news, and quickly slides over to make room for him to sit wherever he likes. She seems a bit torn as to whether or not she dares to sit with her back to the window; on one hand, it would make it easier to avoid looking out. On the other, it also means turning her back on--ugh.]

There was something out there. A--it looked like a hand. A person's hand.

Bit of trouble, have we?

[mostly blind fellow is blind, so- what exactly is scaring her is a bit beyond his sight, though not his guess]

Er...I'm afraid so, but only a bit, yes. It's just...outside, have you seen anything...er, odd?

[Because, of course, only one of them in this conversation happens to know that the dear fellow is blind.]

Well, that it's only a bit is comforting.

[and sob, he's sure not telling]

A touch of movement- have you?

I've seen something like this before, almost a year ago. Glimpses of...home, I think, but I think it must be a trick, too. And there was something else outside, trying to get in.

Penny? Hello, Penny, is that--hello? Yes, it's me. I'm--I think I'm underground, on some sort of train. Where are you?

The subway, you mean?

I'm at the Center. There're things on the network, but I don't-- ...are things okay?

I don't know. I think so? I know I'm underground, at least, since there's no sun at all, just the lights.

Penny, can you hear me all right? I can hardly hear you.

It's awful, absolutely awful. And there are--things out there, too. Outside the windows.

I'm doing my best not to look.

...this is what I get for taking a quick trip to one of the shops Underground on a curse day. Lovely.

You were able to get on yourself? I woke up here this morning, and I would've thought--goodness, that's strange...
