i've been stretching every morning for... about a week now. maybe a week and a half, i'm not sure. at first it was rough going - muscles didn't want to relax long enough to actually unwind, especially while cold in the morning, and that was frustrating. then i had my massage on tuesday, and i was reminded why i pay for those once a month. ( more thoughts on stretching, rehabilitation, and muscle anatomy! with links to pictures! )

i use very basic stretches - the sort they teach you in PE and stuff. if you have tight/spasm-prone muscles, they are safe and effective. i got most of my info from the internet after a few hours of research. i printed out anatomy pages of the back and legs that showed muscle groups so i could reference muscles and look up stretches for the major groups, or for specific muscles i knew were problematic. for example, here's what i do in the morning ( ... )
