(Still going WTF over the Flashback!Sue you linked. The author is from my hometown too...)

It's one of my pet peeves in fanfiction, especially in fandoms like Harry Potter with solidly established magical rules, when people make up new rules that do not supplement or, worse, completely override what's already been established in a nonsensical way. Forcing ideas into a world doesn't always work well. There's nothing wrong with trying to write original fiction when an author has ideas that don't fit into their fanfiction.

The random author's notes in the bulk of this one's work is very annoying. I am sure that any fan of Harry Potter know for a fact that Gobbldygook is goblin language... and if they don't, there is such thing as the internet in today's age ( ... )

I was hoping that would go over well.

I've not gotten to the part about Dragonlords as only so many series are up on netflix. It is easy to look up the details on that and know that the writer is butchering that part of the canon, but there are other issues. For example... the writer labels Arthur as a prat. Yes... he could be a prat at times, but it was far from his defining trait. Sounds like the writer wants to make him an AH rather then keeping him in character.

I looked at their profile and found their story Merlin Rewritten. It's about two bloody annoying fangirls who fall into the world of Merlin and manage to pass themselves off as royalty despite the fact they are acting like idiot fangirls that would give themselves away. I mean... come on! Modern speech patterns during that time frame?

I agree about the whole Merlin Rewritten fic. This author admits to the fact that she inserted herself into the story- though it would have been completely obvious even if she didn't say anything.

The modern speech thing is also annoying. I highly doubt that the people that lived in the medieval time periods would say "OMG" to anything. Especially since the vast majority were extremely religious- though I think that Christianity wasn't exactly on the rise during Arthur's period... however, they still wouldn't have used that language.

The modern speech thing was always big in the LotR fandom. I personally think that the Hobbit and LotR categories should be merged, because it really does feel like Sue writers have been able to escape criticism due to the fact nobody goes and looks in the Hobbit section. And then Simirilian is for the "hard core" critics. It's really weird that way.

Magical CORE? What, does Ginny have unicorn hair or dragon heartsrings inside her spinal chord? Does she have a jelly filling?

I'm not sure if Kaa eating Belle is so much for humor as it is some sort of fetishism. Then again, I could be just overexposed to odd fetishes.

Either way, it's bad.
