0014: The Memoirs of Starr Athena LiEngle, Year One - Starr Athena LiEngle

Apr 18, 2003 22:42

In an effort to combat my internet's refusal to get up in the morning, I'm going to start posting Sues late at night.

While I'm here, I would just like to make a note to the world in general of one of my fanfic pet peeves: body-switching. Gah. People, it's old. It's been done. And usually it's not even done well. Stop writing it already, please. ( Read more... )

8 and a half inch wand, eh? Forgive my smutty mind, but really she didn't need to tell us - it just provokes perversion.

Since the story takes place during Book 1, it would actually make sense that the dialogue is the same in the "shared scenes". Still, that doesn't excuse her blatant superiority over poor Hermione (whom I still like, no matter how obnoxious she can be), or the author's notes in the middle of the fics, which are NEVER acceptable (they just prove that the author can't keep her mouth shut even to tell the story), or the fact that the MS's name is Starr LiEngle. (She corrupted the name of one of my favorite authors. KILL MAIM DESTROY.)

*Nods* Not only did she corrupt the name of one of my favorite authors, too, but *Star*?!?! What the hell kind of name is that?

Her parents were hippies!!

...

Better than being yuppies, I suppose. But, still. Star. :: shudders :: Reminds me of Star from The Lost Boys, and I hated that character. She was weak.

i actually once knew a 'starr' way back in high school, she was friends with my boyfriend in their band class. being that she very obviously came from a korean family, i kind of doubt her parents were hippies.

i once knew of a "sunshine", too. her parents were, in fact, hippies.

This author obviously doesn't like Hermione, but you don't have to go and bash her on it. She warned you not to read if you didn't like Mary Sue. Personally, I hate Hermione too. Many people hate Hermione, for god's sake. And you say she's not in touch with reality? I think she's in better touch with reality then you are. Where did she get the name Starr? Obviously you've never heard of Ringo Starr of the Beatles... though I'm pretty sure she didn't get it from there.

Whoa, calm yourself the both of you! First of all: Ringo Starr's LAST NAME, not first name, is Starr. Would you name your son Pitt Smith, or McGregor Jones?

Next: What's wrong with Hermione? She's a bit bossy and smart, but why does that make her worth bashing? Snape's an asshole, Draco Malfoy is a downright jerk, but you don't see me hating them or writing terrible stories about them.

And hey, how is ANYONE here out of touch with reality? The author has every right to want to be in Hogwarts, most Harry Potter fans do, though I'll admit blatant self-insertation is annoying as sin, not to mention her wish to be simply THE BEST in everything. Rather snobbish and rude, I'd say... But this girl you're yelling at, she's not out of touch either. Just because her opinion differs from yours, you have to bring her down and scream at her? That's definitely uncalled for. Hate to break it to you, but you're being a major bitch. Though I promise--you're NOT out of touch with reality.

If the writer put her dislike right out there for the reader to see publically, then she can be called out for it. When you dislike a character, you leave that out of fanfic completly.

Of course, the author is also using the whole idea, that if one doesn't like a Mary Sue, that means that people shouldn't comment on the flaws. It would be one thing, if she was paroding, or purposfully writing bad fic, but truth of the matter is, it is likely more because she wants to excuse her OC's Sueish behavior.

What the fuck? -.-;

Hun, your story is so lame, we can't HELP reading it. It's fun to make fun of stupid shits like you. Take your fic and your Mary Sue and shove them both up your ass, please. It'll do the whole world a favor.

Yes, the author again. You know what I like about this? I love making fun of the stupid buttholes who think they're insulting me. It's hilarious how you all think you're funny.

Hehe... I have to go with the author on this one. ~_^ Yeah, it's Mary-Sue, and her story sucks... but at least she admitted it.

Short chapter, but I had little time to type this, so please be grateful.

Oh believe me, I *am* grateful.
