I heard today that George Carlin died from heart failure at the age of 71. I'm truly saddened by that, because George had the balls to say *exactly* what he was thinking, and fuck anybody who was offended. So here's to you George! First day today. I'm exhausted. Had orientation this morning, then went to meet with my supervisor. Got a tour of quite a bit of the facility. Did not have the right shoes for that! Anyway, I have my security briefing tomorrow morning. I also have to figure out to enroll for my benefits. Will keep you all posted.

Well, I'm up in Littleton now. I moved yesterday. Moving sucks--and I had movers. Still, I got a cute apartment and I start my job with Lockheed Martin in about a week and half. Well, more specifically, I have a conditional offer of employment with Lockheed Martin, contigent upon the successful attainment of a top secret security clearance. But, I lead a fairly boring life and am not stressed about it. I won't start til probably mid to late summer, but there is light at the end of the education and waitressing tunnel!

Things are stressful right now. Finishing my masters, looking for a job (in this economy), generally just trying to figure out what to do with my life. To top it off, my dad was hurt at work, broke his shoulder and had to have surgery. So, the past few days have been spent at the hospital. He comes home today. Pray for us all.

Yesterday was a hard day. We had to have our yellow lab Yogi put to sleep. It was the right decision, but it was probably one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. He had been sick for over a week, not eating (which was his life's passion). Our vet diagnosed him with Addison's disease, which affects the adrenal glands and cortisol ( Read more... )

I just got an email from one of my best friends. We've worked together for the last 3+ years. She was drugged and sexually assaulted. She's quit her jobs and is going to another state, to find some sort of closure with a now-dead ex husband. She feels that only then will she be able to face this new challenge.
