Hi there, I just got pearl a while ago hoping that I could do some fun online battling in the future. But today I found out exactly what EVs and IVs are and I'm not too happy... it looks like there is a lot of effort to be put in raising a team that won't get owned. And I used to play WoW, so I know it does take a long grind in order to be halfway ( Read more... )

I know exactly how you feel. All the information kind of overwhelmed me when I found out, so I just ignored it. But I think there are some berries that can help you reset your EV levels or something. Hopefully someone else will be able to offer you more info? *fails at helping*

D: No no you don't fail, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one in this boat lol The berry thing... I'll look into that. I soak up info like a sponge so now that I've seen this EV thing I'm surfing google all over to figure out what to do D:

like silverjojo08 said above, there are berries which you use to decrease your EVs in stats and then you want to give them power items (which you purchase at the battle tower) to make distributing the EVs a lot faster.

i kind of liked when this stuff wasn't how you had to raise your pokemon, too xD

The battle tower won't give you any EVs or experience but you can buy items from there to help you so yeah.

Haha you get the hang of it after awhile. I finally understood it and I never thought that would happen.

hey now, let's not be hatin' on the rayquazas, lol!

but yeah, that is a big problem, people go in with like, all legendaries, and call hax when you beat them with ev trained pokes.

i use one legendary, and that IS rayquaza (he's ma favoritest evars, if you hadn't noticed), but even then, i am ev training him just like the rest of the team, and if someone does not like battling against legends for the obvious overpowered/uber thing, then i have ev trained pokes to switch with so people can have a more "fair" battle.

These are the berries that will reduce your EVs. Eleven berries should lower it back to zero.

#21 Pomeg Berry (HP)
#22 Kelpsy Berry (Atk)
#23 Qualot Berry (Def)
#24 Hondew Berry (SpA)
#25 Grepa Berry (SpD)
#26 Tamato Berry (Spe)

I don't think you have too much to worry about unless you want to be a serious hardcore battler. I never bothered specifically doing EV training and my pets turned out fine and pretty strong regardless.
