Alice and I went to a May the 4th Be With You party last night in Iowa City, in honor of 5/4/77 when the first Star Wars came out.  There was a costume contest -- Alice is a sucker for those.  Of course, she's a great costumer.

I finally got laid off from Verizon this morning, abruptly. No big disappointment, and no big surprise -- laid off people have been filing past me by the hundreds ever since I started. Time to adjust to a daytime schedule and start a real job search for once.
