Hello everybody! How was everyone's new year? Mine was rubbish, but never mind. Christmas was low-key, but fine. I'm thinking of dropping out of Leeds and re-applying to do Anthropology instead, at Durham or UCL.

Problem is, no science qualification whatsoever, not even a GCSE (long story - nothing to do with my being rubbish at science, which I ( Read more... )

Does one need a sciency qualification for Anth? (Also, I do not have any sciency GCSE either - what's your excuse?) And I vote UCL.

Dude, if UCL let me the fuck in I'm there. But I think Durham's Anth dept is slightly less demanding, in terms of grades/qualifications etc ( ... )

Having never applied to anywhere so high-profile I can offer nothing, but le boyf said UCL was a doddle (mind, he was E-Lit). I take it you're going to apply to both?

Your life story is interesting! I have one, singular science qualification which is of absolutely no use, because I went to a private school which only loosely followed the NC. This is also why I have NO language GCSEs and THREE art GCSEs. Would it be possible to take a GCSE in biology this year, if you're not intending to continue with the degree?

Oh, I'm lousy. Life is getting on my tits. I'm coping by pretending it's not there and then countering that by reapplying for the MA I failed to get onto last year, because I needed to feel more useless. ;)

I applied to UCL to do Lit! Didn't get in, but... you know. My parents both went there, and my dad did Lit.

I'm going to at least finish the term - probably the year - and then see how it goes. I could do a biology GCSE, but most of the courses start in September I think, so I'd probably have to wait. Plus "time management" issues, finding a place that does it, blah blah blah. I'm looking into it, but I'll just have to see how it goes.

Damn life! Best to keep your distance for a while until it starts being nice to you. What are you planning to do an MA in? And where?

My best friend got nightmares after SotD, a fact about which I tease her endlessly. Which is ridiculously hypocritical of me, but I do find it amusing.
