No Little Arms Here

So I have designs to update more often...and they are all dashed. Life will not leave me alone, and it's all terrible. Mr. Minty got a new job with a night time shift, which means I cook two dinners every night and do more housework. He's off today, so I'm trying to get this post finished before it's back to the grind. However, this downtime has ( Read more... )

From now on I will imagine Eric as Mr. Wilson, a crotchety old man standing on his lawn in his bathrobe, newspaper in hand, shaking his fist at the menacing kids trampling his crepe myrtles. LOL! His house would definitely be the one that kids triple-dog dare each other to go into, if their ball gets lost in his backyard! Thank you for that great image!

I'm also grateful for a fresh perspective and new speculation on the Freyda situation that does not include throwing one of Eric's children under the bus the same way ALO did to Eric. I'd hate Eric and think he was a weasel if he did that to Pam, or even Karin. Besides Freyda not swinging Pam's way, I haven't read her volunteering to step in for Eric either. I like to think Pam has her own plans for her life that doesn't include eternal servitude to Eric, kind of like Eric had his own plans for his life before Appius threw a Freyda wrench in them.

That's exactly what he's like. He doesn't like anything new, and he doesn't want to socialise. I see so much of my Dad (and my husband is turning this way as he gets older) in Eric. All he needs to do is have a rant about the music people listen to these days not like the music he used to listen to, and the illusion will be complete.

I absolutely agree - the solution of treating one of his female children as his tool to get what he wants is loathsome. I mean, jeez, it doesn't even fit with his *actual* personality. He says in DR that he's not sure can (or should) force Pam to stay with him in Louisiana if Miriam dies, even though she's super useful. Why the hell he would think tying Pam into a second's job for the next 100 years is a good idea that Pam would just *do* is beyond me.

Even if my theory is wrong, there has to be a reason T-Rex has become such a sudden part of the story though.

I'm a little disappointed by how anti-climactic this reasonable conclusion feels, but I suppose the action and suspense time in the book can be better spent resolving the fact that every vampire in Area 5 is still considered a murderous traitor to the king ( ... )

I don't think it'd be this anti-climactic on the page. After all, we have T-Rex trying to get through to Sookie and not making it so far. And CH never goes into so much detail as I do. Plus, I could be wrong, but it's not predicated on chucking some other girl into an enforced marriage ( ... )

I can see T-Rex being turned. It's a good reason for him to just pop up. If he is turned, I can't wait to see who does the turning. I think I had the same thoughts, him being a vampire. But I think I dismissed it because he would be a "young" vampire.
I also hope to read more about Freyda. I wonder if her and Sookie will meet up again.

I can't think of why he'd be hanging around vampires if that wasn't what he wanted. There's better and less dangerous things to do if you don't have a death wish. I think who does the turning is still up to T-Rex, but he may not have a choice if he waits too long.

I think young can be okay if it's shown that old has its own drawbacks. And if you can show that someone else had a couple of pro-wrestling dudes working for them, and it all worked out.

I think Sookie will have to meet Freyda again. It will probably be at a public place though, where Freyda can't kill her. :D

So, first of all, LOL at your title! No little arms indeed. I like this theory; very few of the characters in CH books are mere fillers, they all come into play at some point. And I'm sure T-Rex is meant to be more than just an annoying party guest with some wimmens in tow. Just like Kennedy is meant to highlight trust issues and communication in a relationship, serving as a parallel to Sookie and Eric's relationship, as well as highlighting what a woman will do to get out of a desperate situation, and how the community will react. This is nuanced intelligent writing, and it makes me abolutely mad that the 50Shades trilogy has a higher rating on Amazon than SVM from DAG onwards ( ... )

My family sometimes talks about me having T-Rex arms when they hold stuff above my head and laugh at me for not being able to reach it. So I have an affinity for T-Rexes. :D ( ... )

There was no sex in DL, and not just a sex fest since DAG - which was expected. I find most of the time it's pretty repetitive stuff ( ... )

Ooohh…great food for thought! I’ve missed thinking about this stuff-no pressure on you, just an appreciation for your blog. ;) With regard to the Freyda quandary, I knew you’d come up with something that’s different and supported by the text ( ... )
