Is there any specific concern about the hip and back pain? Is that a symptom of anything in particular? Hopefully just the fever. "Just" I say, as if it were trivial. :P Didn't mean it like that.

No idea. They're running a bunch of blood tests, urine tests, and pumping him full of saline and antibiotics as well as platelets.

Two days ago his platelet count was 23. Today it was 10. It's supposed to be about 150 or thereabouts. Yeesh.
