So earlier today, I went on Bic's so-called online shopping web site (yeah, Bic, the people who make pens, disposable razors, disposable lighters, and the like). I can hear sirens outside my office window right now. Our building is right along the path of the procession to the memorial service for the three police officers killed in this past weekend's tragedy in Stanton Heights, and literally thousands of officers from all over the country are on their way there right now ( Read more... )

According to this article in today's Trib PM, the DA is making noises about closing down all three McDonalds locations downtown, as "nuisance businesses". Apparently the last straw was when the manager of the Smithfield Street restaurant was arrested for being an, errr, "freelance pharmaceutical salesperson", while at work at the restaurant.
