[Back in the library once more. Unfortunately, the books lose their appeal once Weiss can't understand them. This is a bit of a problem. With some help from his knowledge of the past, a..bit more (stuff like programming) and a dictionary, he's picking up English fairly quickly. But he decides to test a few things out ( Read more... )

I'm just glad I can understand someone here.

[ He's just sitting around while Weiss learns things. ]

[Awwwwyeah. Floating babelfish-to-be.]

Quite. This situation is already confusing and troublesome enough as it is.

Yeah, it's kind of weird...I guess the books here must look kind of like the ones in my library, right?

Yes. Thankfully, they are less dangerous than one in particular.

[don't talk about rubrum like that, weiss]

[After doing a quick double take when seeing the book, only to recall who it was, did Rookie give a cheerful wave from where he was sitting in the Lobby.]

Hey, Weiss. [Small pause as he drops his hand back down to the journal currently resting in his lap, rapping his knuckle on it a few times to draw attention towards it.] Hope you're having an easier time making sense out of all these languages.

[Floating over. Okay. After some studying, he can understand the gist of it. His English is a bit awkward, but he's getting the hang of it very quickly.]

You could say that. Not as fast as I had hoped.

Aha, for Rookie? Yeap! :D odst_mute August 23 2011, 23:06:19 UTC
[The awkwardness is noted, though there is some surprise in regards to it. Then again he probably shouldn't have just assumed Weiss wouldn't have any trouble just because he was a magic book.]

Better than some, at least. [Tilts his head.] What languages are you normally use to?

[Crosstranslating can get even the best of books hung up a bit.]

I do not know if there is a specific name for it.

[He switches to his usual language, aka what sounds like futuristic gibberish.]

I do not know what to call it, either.

[ Guess who is leaning in the doorway watching you, sceptically. ]

Making use of that big brain of yours, Wiess?

Bah! Naturally.

[Perusing a few more dictionaries and grammar books. He wouldn't take up anyone's offer (without much persuasion, at least) to learn a language because he's too prideful. 8|]

[ Hey, at least she's come indoors with all the people rather than secluding herself. She tilts her head, taking in the library. ]

Find out anything useful?

That depends on what you define as useful.

[Like profanity. He sighs.]

At the very least, I should not have to look through three dictionaries to find the correct translation of one mere word!

[You'd think with a library as big as this, there's got to be a book that could simply translate future language to past language. But language evolved a bit too much over the years...]
