How can JD Robb be so freaking awesome? How? *ponders*

After I finished the new "In Death" book "Promises in Death" I just couldn't leave Eve and Roarke's world... I had to stay there a bit longer and bask in the awesome-ness of this series, so I'm re-reading some of my favorite ones: so. much. love.. *happy sigh ( Read more... )

The only fictional couple, het or gay, that rival, IMO, the chemistry and believability of the B/J connection.

I think you're right! They're very different people with very different "issues" (if you know what I mean), but the passion/chemistry between both couples is definitely explosive!

I had never been a big Nora fan, in fact, I don't like romance novels much. Years ago I grabbed one of the Robbs and was instantly in love.

They are so completely different than her normal style. I too love the characters - all of them.

I didn't even know who Nora Roberts was before starting to read the "in Death" series.
After I read it all (and discovered she had a whole different thing going under her real name), I decided to try out some of her "Nora Roberts" books, to see if they were as good as her "JD Robb" work...
I usually don't like romance books either, so I tried the "Circle Trilogy" (which is sort of a mix between fantasy and romance) and I have to admit that I quite liked it.

Still, it was nothing like the "in Death" series and definitely not as mind-blowingly good. ;-)

Total JD Robb fan. Read them all. Love them all. They get better and better. Seemed to be more fun banter between them in this one. Loved it. I'm repeating myself, but it's true.

Yay! *squees with fellow JD Robb fan*

Yep. Even tho this latest "death" was very tragic and personal, Eve and Roarke were greater than ever. :-)
I must say that I love-love-love the dialogs in her books, and not just the Eve/Roarke ones...Eve/Peabody often crack me up (especially in the earlier books) and Mavis, McNabb & co are also... totally mag! ;))

I love that we read all the same books :)

Me too. And I'll never thank you enough for that link you gave me....it changed my life. ♥

I really enjoyed Promises. The last couple ID books have been kinda so-so for me, so I was totally pleased by this one.

Promises was very good! I wonder if we'll ever see Eve become Captain...I bet it would both please her and screw her up, I would die (no pun intended) to read about that!
I enjoyed the latest books, especially "Salvation", she's so good at creating compelling and interesting characters that I often find myself wishing I could live in her world... ;))

I liked Eve acting like an actual human being for once, instead of this bitch always trying to push Roarke away.

Awww, come on! She's not a bitch (with Roarke, at least)...she just has issues...
I think that no matter how good is your life, you'll never get over something that traumatic. She's dealing with it - better and better - but she'll never be entirely over it, and that's one of the things that make her who she his (and the ( ... )

I read the "In Death" series too. Usually, even with a very good author, if a series goes on more than a few books I get bored, but for some reason Nora's Robb series continues to fascinate me.

I'm not a big fan of her magic/fantasy/romantic trilogies, but her standalone books are always excellent. They are more carefully-plotted and written, and usually are published in hardback and show up on the best seller lists. They are mostly romantic-suspense; well worth looking for. If you can't find them let me know - I think I have some of them somewhere in my immense collection of books...

Happy reading, sweetie!

So very true! I think it's because her characters grow and change and evolve but at the same time they're still them, you know?

As I said above, I just read one trilogy and I definitely enjoyed it. Still, I usually like contemporary settings (more than "fantasy") and I love series. The longer, the better. ;-)

I rarely read standalone books anymore (with exceptions of course), I think I just read too fast to truly enjoy them...I always need more-more-more. *is weird*

*loves*
