How the hell do chaplains' first amendment rights get impinged by this?

They are still free to be virulent homophobes. They are not free to manifest this homophobia when doing their jobs if they want to keep them.

Same with someone who thinks that birth control is a sin. They're free to work as a pharmacist, but if they refuse to dispense birth control because of their superstitions, show their ass the door.

The Religious Right had a really big foothold in all branches of the military, to the point that Christian chaplains were throwing their weight around, refusing to do other-faith ceremonies, and actively discriminating against other minor faiths. You had captains on naval boats on long tours that were ordering the entire crew to go to church services, and broadcasting prayers over the all-call system ( ... )

Scott is my rep too. Unfortunately I cannot complain because I forgot to turn in my absentee ballot application on time, but he is the worst.
