The Religious Right had a really big foothold in all branches of the military, to the point that Christian chaplains were throwing their weight around, refusing to do other-faith ceremonies, and actively discriminating against other minor faiths. You had captains on naval boats on long tours that were ordering the entire crew to go to church services, and broadcasting prayers over the all-call system.
Their precious applecart has been upset, first by the group at the site below, and now by this. So, as usual, they're screaming about discrimination against them.

And I wish the pharmacist thing was actually true, but the law is written in the other direction, actually. Not only can they refuse to fill the Rx, they can refuse to give it back to you, and not get in trouble for it.
If I owned a pharmacy, that would be question number one on my employment form: For any reason, would you feel unable to fill a prescription, regardless of the intent of the client? The next line would be "If you answered "yes" to question #1, please turn in your application at once, as well as your license to dispense."
