I have compiled a new guide for the City, with thanks to
velated_v as well as
lady_turk who served as references for the new compilation. Jr,
red_dragon_666, Elena,
lady_turk, and Larsa
cooperating were all key figures involved in this endeavor. In addition,
this is another worth looking at.
However, I would need your help to make the guide more comprehensive and exhaustive. Please feel free to add to what I've written, or make recommendations. There is a section for advertisements in the guide for businesses, as well as employments. Should you be interested, kindly leave me your post and details in here, and I will get to it immediately.
Thank you for your time.
New and Improved Guide to the City
Introduction
Welcome to the City. There's no other name for it, and citizens refer to it as such. Almost everyone in here arrived not out of their own free will, but most likely by the will of this City.
As far as observations of the City go, it functions as a nexus of sorts amongst all the available worlds universes, and timelines. It is possible for a few different 'versions' of the same person to arrive in the City at different points of time, and possible to have two versions of the same person in the City at the very same time, although such occurrences are rare. There are no set rules as to the passage of time outside this world. It may be that a few hours had passed in your respective worlds, or it may be months or years while you were in this City. It may even be that no time had passed since you first entered the City.
This City's most striking feature is the Carousel; the specific function of which is unknown to Citizens. The formation of the City is a very curious one. There are 12 specific residential buildings around Misery Square, in addition to the of shops and bars located around the place. The layout of the City is in the face of a clock, right down to the numbered buildings. To be more specific, a map is provided for you
here.
Within the Underground, clockworks and devices of sorts keep count until what is believed to be the biblical 'End of Days', or Armageddon. The Clock has been reset in the past, and believed that once it reaches the end of countdown, the worlds that were represented within the City, and the City itself would no longer exist. Of course, these are merely theories, and yet another popular theory that the inhabitants believe in would be that the City functions as 'Noah's Ark', with the City bringing in various kinds of people who were meant to survive the destruction of their worlds.
There is no set regulation as to how the City chooses its people, nor are there criteria as to who the curses affect. Perhaps it could all be calculated by probability, but with the constant, dynamic shift of the City's pattern and mannerisms, it is highly difficult, if not possible, to settle on a solid hypothesis.
Upon arrival, you will hear a ticking sound originating from the clock, especially when you're alone. One way to get rid of such an annoyance would be to have company - the sound goes away when you're with another person, or people.
Residences
You can live anywhere you wish; there are an infinite number of rooms in the buildings; and all you have to do is to pick an apartment and move in. Furniture may be included in the apartment, otherwise, there are shops in the Square that sell what you need. Rent is required, of course.
Shops
There are a wide array of shops that sell anything that you will ever need; and most of them are located in the Square. The only difficulty you'll probably go through would be searching them out.
Infrastructure
This City is massive enough to contain a state of the art subway system, which will allow you to get to anywhere in the City. However, there are no airports and seaports. It is possible for anyone to fly and teleport within the City, as long as they have the ability to do so.
Curses
You will be subject to Curse Days as long as you're in this City; however, whether you're cursed or not would depend on your luck. Curse days normally last for a day, but they are sometimes known to last for up to a week. It is noted that there was a curse that lasted for up to twelve days last November, although there were no curses for the entire week after that incident. The days of the curses are highly irregular, and no one can predict what comes next. To date, a few of the worst curses would be the days of the Black Death, the days where the City experiences terrible weather, as well as curses that impair one's judgement/thinking and cause a person to fall hopelessly in love with another without reason.
To be more specific, there are a few different versions of curses:
1. A curse that is inflicted on the City itself, but not on its Citizens, like the weather/epidemic curses, although those are considered rather rare.
2. A curse that causes a person to think that they're from a different era.
3. A curse that causes a person to do something that they would otherwise not think of doing.
4. A curse, or an invasion of sorts where oddly behaved individuals enter. At this point, if this is experienced, it is highly recommended that you lock all doors.
5. A curse which affects physical aspects of a person, be it into a different gender, or being cuffed to another person, and so on.
6. A curse where the City's environment itself changes.
An excerpt from the old guide compiled by Elena would sum up these curses: "The curses can be anything that you could or couldn’t imagine. Recently there was a curse that forced everyone to be happy, no matter how depressed or angry they were. There was also a curse where you were inclined to talk about your secrets to everyone and anyone; one where everything from the apartments to clothes were changed to a different time period, a day where everyone spoke in different languages, a day where people turned into animals and animals turned into people, and those are just the recent ones. There have been ones in the past where people relived their worst memory, a day where your flesh was rotted and all the fun that goes with that, a day where you couldn’t help but kiss anyone you came in contact with, a gender changing curse, a day where ages got reversed, and a whole lot more."
The purposes of these curses are unknown, however, it is said that the City feeds off the strong emotions of individuals, and therefore makes use of these as a catalyst of sorts. It's a common, established fact that those afflicted with the curse are often helpless against it, and therefore are generally not responsible for any actions they might have perpetrated during it. Of course, such a thing would depend on the context.
Exit
The way out of this City differs for everyone, but two steadfast rules that remain are:
(1) The dead cannot leave this City; however, there are rare instances where one can.
(2) The people who actively search for the exit will not find it, however, there are also the rare exception, although they are extremely few and far between. More information on this can be found
here, courtesy of Mr Riou,
bright_shield, who has been doing active research for a good long while.
Deities
The five deities who are in charge of the City are named as follows, Mouse, Lenny, Maemi, Paulie, and Sabine. It's possible to make any kind of deal with them, but in most observed cases, it's occasionally a case of: be careful what you wish for. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and therefore, be prepared to pay out something that's worth as much as what you're asking for. There are no explicit rules on how to contact them, other than making a private entry requesting for a trade.
Powers and Abilities
As far as it is observed, individuals with powers still retain their abilities upon entrance to the City, although some may find that their powers are weakened somewhat. The exact limit for this City is unknown, and differs from individual to individual. 'Items' that individuals possess can be used in here. For example, items like Heal Materia, runes and the like.
The Dead
If you are killed within City walls, you will be resurrected within 24 hours. However, your body functions would be of a dead person, symptoms of which include:
- Pale, cool skin
- Sluggishness
- Breathing and food becomes optional
- Dulled senses
- Lack of heartbeat
Although you can be resurrected, the fact still remains that once you die, you are unable to leave the City. However, your life may be able to be restored via a trade with the deities. What they choose to obtain from you, however, is not known.
Currency
One Orange = price of one cup of coffee.
Red=1/10 of an Orange.
Orange=10 Reds.
Yellow=5 Oranges =5 cups of coffee.
Green=10 Oranges=10 cups of coffee.
Blue=50 Oranges=50 cups of coffee.
Violet = 100 Oranges =100 cups of coffee.
Indigo=500 Oranges = 500 cups of coffee.
All children will receive free food and housing courtesy of the City.
Judicial System
The judicial system is based on the civil law system, with the law of Torts as one of the principal functions. To be more specific, anyone can bring anyone to court, as long as there's a case to be heard. However, with the lack of law enforcement in the City, there would probably be no criminal hearings in which the State punishes the criminal.
Any deity would serve as Judge, and if it suits you, there is an option to assemble a jury consisting of citizens who are willing to come forward.
As for legal counsel, there is a choice of either having a lawyer represent you, or representing yourselves. Yet another rule of this court is that the Plaintiff is responsible for three things:
- Physically bringing and detaining the accused to and within Court.
- The burden of proof lies with the Plaintiff as well; meaning that the Plaintiff is required to bring proof against the accused, and the specialists to analyse said proof.
- Scheduling a trial date by informing a deity, or making a declaration of litigation.
Sentencing:
Punishment will vary from fines and community service to prison confinement.
Jail:
The Jail is guarded by a warden, who is elected every two months. Individuals can nominate themselves, or have others nominate them. City Voting would last for three days, and the elected Warden can name a Second. The nominated Warden will receive 4 Indigos a month.
-Lawyers available in this City (Prices will be subject to their requests. Should anyone wish to be added, please place a comment here)

anidealworld People
There are a wide range of people within this City:
Humans, angels, ninjas, demons, gods, vampires, death gods, arrancar, cat-people, empaths, psychics, talking animals, robots, androids, various hybrids, were-creatures, enhanced individuals, witches, wizards, homunculi.
A few brief notes on the more visible racial sets of this City:
{Vampires} - They possess a wide range of abilities, but such abilities will differ from person to person. However, their exact powers are unknown, although most, if not all, require blood to sustain themselves. These beings do not tend to band together as a large group, and are dispersed throughout the City.
However, none of the old wives' tales apply to them as a whole. Some individuals are infected with a parasite of sorts, some are the supernatural undead, are artificial, or mutations or evolutionary offshoots. In addition, it was said that holy items only work on a few of them, and therefore are not recommended as a surefire way of repelling them.
Addendum to the new arrivals: You are only allowed to hunt indiscriminately outside City limits. To prevent reprisal from the other vampires dwelling in the City, it is advised that this recommendation be followed.
The following destinations are recommended, courtesy of Mr Valentine
lukevalentine.
City:
Local butcher shop in Misery Square for animal blood.
Hospital has a blood bank and will give out medical blood, but it's done (understandably) sparingly. The bags handed out are usually the ones closest to expiring.
Underground:
The Raven for bottled human blood. Although the club is in the Underground, it's close enough to the City that one doesn't have to take the train.
Black Market and various other places offer variety of bloods (human, animal, otherwise) and related products. However, due to their locations being deep within the Underground there is a personal safety risk. Newcomers (particularly those unskilled in protecting themselves) should go to The Raven.
{Arrancar}- A race of supernatural beings who stem from hundreds of Hollows. They are the ones who seek to consume souls to get stronger, however, the rules of this City prevent them completely consuming a soul. They are set apart from others with pristine white uniforms, as well as pieces of bone that are visible on mostly around their faces/on their heads. Arrancar also have holes through their bodies, although their locations differ.
In addition, their rankings are as follows:
Espada - Rumored to be the most powerful of the arrancar.
Privaron - Arrancar who are said to be ex-Espada, although the exact power difference is unknown.
Fraccion - Observed to be either assistants, or servants of the Espada.
To date, there are quite a number of these arrancar present in this City.
{Werewolves} - They are observed to follow the moon cycle, and become werewolves three days out of every month. However, not all werewolves follow the lunar cycle, and are said to be able to shift at will.
{Homunculi} - A race of non-humans who are known to be tough, regenerate instantly, have superior physical abilities, heightened senses and instincts, and have only a dulled sense of pain. To date, there are three in this City.
{Death gods} - Also known as shinigami, most of them are inhabitants of a place named Soul Society. The shinigami are beings who function as exorcists of sorts, and send souls back to Soul Society. To date, there are a few Captains and Vice-Captains present here.
{Angels} - Beings who dwell in the Cathedral as well as the Firestation. Refer to
this for more information.
Underground
This is where most bars and autorepair shops are located. Should you need alcohol, this is the place to go to, however, it is decidedly dangerous, considering the fact that there are dangerous monsters located in here. It's advised that this is not a safe place for children, or for those who do not possess some form of power against them. The deeper one enters into the Underground, the more deadly and vicious the monsters are. Locations worth visiting within the Underground are:
-The Raven
-Club Automatica
-Circus Carnivore
Forest
An forested area supposedly owned by one Miss Ophelia, who resides in there, the forest consists of all manner of vicious beasts and creatures who are deadlier the deeper you venture into it. It is advised that individuals with take caution while entering.
Destinations
The City: Aboveground The City: Underground The City: Xanadu Businesses/Advertisements
- The new Church located on the edge of the City near the Forest is currently open, with services held every week on Sundays.
- The Hot Springs are open to more lodgers who are able to pull their own weight.
- Sultana Ananova (
crete_goddess) is currently putting up a notice for knife throwing, swordfighting, and turkish swordplay classes. Interested applicants please reply to
