Upon arriving at the castle, I found that a guest room had been reserved just for me in the basement. It seems our captor wishes us to enjoy our stay here in his realm, although I can't say that the convenience of having a room can at all make up for the rest of the inconveniences I'll be faced with while I'm here ( Read more... )

Mushi?

Yes... Even though I'm a world away, there seem to be many here as well.

Mushi are...strange neighbors of the human race. They exist somewhere between life and death, and their form and shape is always varied and ambiguous. Just be sure to leave them alone, and they should leave you alone. They don't mean to be dangerous to us, but they still can be.

...

The idea that another world like this Netherworld exists is really something to fathom. I suppose that must lead me to the conclusion that you are from another world entirely different from mine, as well.

Have you seen mushi before in your world? As a shinigami, it makes sense that you'd be able to see them, given how closely linked you are to death...

Nice to meet you. I'm Ginko.

*stares at Pikachu a bit* ...I've really never seen a creature like that before. I've seen mushi of every shape and size, but this one seems to be more a part of the animal kingdom. *reaches forward to let Pikachu sniff his hand maybe?*

[Private] ...A demon shrine maiden? [/Private]

Thank you. I can't say I'm too worried about fitting in here; I actually can't stay for long.

...Oh, nobody told you yet. I am very sorry to have to tell you this...

The problem is that you might have to stay for some time. While there is nothing preventing our leave in theory, practically the dimensional gateway is broken, and even if it is fixed, which is taking months, the gatekeeper has to show up, and sadly, nobody has seen her work even once. She is a typical honor student demoness, after all.

I've heard something similar from other people, yes...

However, that doesn't give me reason to stay here at the castle. I'll have to travel this planet. If I stay at the castle, the mushi will only gather around me, and nothing good comes from too many of them coming together in the same place.

((Help help, I need reasons for Ginko to not do this aaaaah 8D;;))

Mushi? Is THAT what all those little glowy things are?

That's right. Another demon who can see them...perhaps they all can.

I'm no demon.

What is a mushi?

They're not all to be feared, but just the same, its best you leave them alone, and they'll leave you alone. They are another form of existence, between the boundary of life and death. You can think of them simply as strange neighbors.

I am afraid that I do not understand. How can there be a boundary between life and death?

oneeyedfish February 25 2009, 06:27:32 UTC
...Well, that's the thing; mushi are vague, and bridge that boundary, so it's really not much of a boundary to them.
