Upon arriving at the castle, I found that a guest room had been reserved just for me in the basement. It seems our captor wishes us to enjoy our stay here in his realm, although I can't say that the convenience of having a room can at all make up for the rest of the inconveniences I'll be faced with while I'm here

What is a mushi?

They're not all to be feared, but just the same, its best you leave them alone, and they'll leave you alone. They are another form of existence, between the boundary of life and death. You can think of them simply as strange neighbors.

I am afraid that I do not understand. How can there be a boundary between life and death?

...Well, that's the thing; mushi are vague, and bridge that boundary, so it's really not much of a boundary to them.
