Upon arriving at the castle, I found that a guest room had been reserved just for me in the basement. It seems our captor wishes us to enjoy our stay here in his realm, although I can't say that the convenience of having a room can at all make up for the rest of the inconveniences I'll be faced with while I'm here

That's right. Another demon who can see them...perhaps they all can.

Really. Pardon, I saw the ears, and assumed.

I suppose it's not an unreasonable conclusion.

So what are Mushi, then?

[oneeyedfish]

Nothing for you to worry about; if you leave them alone, they should leave you alone. They're another kind of existence that's closer to the root of life than humans, plants, and animals. Some say they exist between life and death.

Interesting. I believe I heard you saying you were something of an expert on them. I must admit my curiosity on the subject.

Somewhere between life and death strikes a bit too close to home for me, after all.

I've made my living off of knowing about them, yes. Nobody's an expert on them, in my opinion, though. There's still thousands of mushi out there yet to be discovered, after all.

Why the curiosity?

Well most people seem to think that death is a very one way barrier. If there was something that can go both ways, it seems only natural someone might want to learn about it.
