Got the 10.30am bullet train back to tokyo changed and was in kyoto by 3. sort walk to the hotel, smart but bland and all that was available, and not too expensive with a four night discount. bought food at the local shop and settled in to watch pay per view movies all evening. I'd bought an external hard drive with me to enable me to wipe memory cards as they filled up. But unfortunately I'd forgotten my camera doesn't support drag and drop and instead windows converted all my space filling raw files into identical duplicates of the jpg files. Set off mid morning Saturday to Ginza. It:s a bit like Oxford St and Bond Street in London merged together and spread over several blocks instead of a straight line. 6am start to finish packing and make the 12.25pm flight from Heathrow. Fortunately I'd managed to get an emergency exit seat, so the 12 hour flight was bearable. Arrived 9am local time.
