The four hour last leg of the journey back to Tokyo passed relatively quickly with a good book, ample legroom, and a smoking room in the next carriage. It was still 5pm before I checked into the hostel though ( Read more... )

With no alarm clock (lost the recharger for my phone) didn't wake up til noon. Oops! Got the one hour tram and 15minute ferry and was on Myajima island, south of Hiroshima, at quarter past three. Quickly scooted down to the Itsukushima torii and scuttled about in the mud (the tide was out) taking pics of Japan's most-photographed location. At 4.30 ( Read more... )

Met up with Brett and Heather at noon and spent a good 2.5 hours in the Peace Memorial museum. You expect it to be an emotional experience but it still surprises you when you actually go there. On a par wit Auschwitz. Very educational as well ( Read more... )
