With all the movies I could’ve watched, I don’t know why I chose to watch such garbage. Last night I watched The Descent 2, followed by Tarot. I wasn’t a huge fan of The Descent, but thought it did a really good job of conveying a combination of claustrophobia and hopelessness. I don’t understand what the point of the sequel was. It was just a bunch of dumb characters making really stupid decisions. Also, there’s no way in hell the “final girl” of the first movie would’ve been able to go back down to the cave system as if nothing had happened. Just a huge turd of a movie.

Tarot was another tepid waste of time. The acting and writing were atrocious, but the biggest crime is the lack of character development. I don’t know why we’re supposed to care about any of these idiots, no less feel anything but relief when they get killed off. The best part of the movie was the actress who played Alma, the tarot deck expert. She was also Sally Hardesty in that awful Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake from a couple years ago. Unfortunately, she had ( ... )

The trailers for Tarot were so awful, not shocked to hear that it sucked.

I LOVE THE DESCENT and literally have tried 7 times to get through the sequel but it is just so... boring?

Just got back from Alien Romulus. Overall I enjoyed it, but character wise it was very meh, like I didn’t care when [Spoiler (click to open)]Navarro, Bjorn, Tyler or Kay got killed off nor was I shocked that it happened. This is something that the previous movies have handled way better, like you actually care that Lambert dies because she is a full character.

And then just how did they go there and how did Weyland Yutani not stop them from taking off from the mining planet… or am I to believe that it was all intentional? Because it did not feel like that but more like a plot hole.

But I liked how it looped back to Prometheus.

The whole station seemed like the pinnacle of weyyu tech, so for it to just be there is just super random. Like in Aliens the company did everything to gain access to the xenomorphs, so why the fuck did they just abandon Romulus/remus?

YEAH. All the things they could want or need are on there. I'd buy into it more if it JUST happened. Like the overrun nature of the station was SUPER recent.

The way the movie started, with similar outfits to the salvage team at the opening of Aliens, i was expecting the movie to be about a salvage team who goes around collecting scrap and stuff, and the movie would end with them finding Ripleys escape pod.

I was supposed to see Rear Window today, but didn't realize that the movie started at 1 until 1:30 oops oh well.

I did watch both Scooby Doos and the Bring It On with Hayden & Solange which are all leaving Tubi soon.

I watched Longlegs this weekend.

The third act left me feeling like “OK, am I missing something, or are some of these plot detail reveals a bit lazy/weak storytelling?”

Though it was still a very fun watch considering the cinematography, performances, and general feeling of chronic dread throughout.

watched a couple of horror movies -- oddity and longlegs. longlegs started off strong, but the third act fell apart for me.

i enjoyed oddity the movie has a great beginning scene that's incredibly tense. it focuses on a pair of twin sisters who are played by the same actress, and she's great at both parts. one of the twins, who's a medium, feels like she'd be the antagonist or some kind of obstacle in any other horror movie, so i appreciated that they made her the main character here.
